No way but this,
Killing myself to die upon a kiss"

Othello, Act V, Scene ii (can't remember the line numbers for the life of me)
I can't remember either, but it's an awesome statement. Thanks for sharing it Maximus!

My mom....

"Dee Dee, I know your purpose in life. God put you on this earth to make people smile. When I'm having a bad day I know all I need to do is call you."

WOW! :)

No problem

It was that quote (along with Sonnet 29 "When in Disgrace with Fortune and Mens eyes") that first got me seriously into theatre. It's what got me where I am today.

It also happens to fit the mood I'm in.

Another of my favs off the top of my head:

"If I ever found a woman I could truly love...... All I'd want to do is ly in her arms and cry."
~ Darrian Ashoka, Dawn: Lucifers Halo

Great thread idea btw!

Thanks Maximus! I'm a theatre guy from way back... although after I left college I never persued my passion it still lives in me today. It's a part of everything I do.

"The world is more like it is now then it ever has before." - Dwight Eisenhower

"If it weren't for electricity we'd all be watching television by candlelight." - George Gobel

It's one of those things, I think, that gets in your blood. No matter what you do, where you go or other jobs you persue - there's that part of you that is never truly alive until you're on the stage.

It's been a long time since I've actually been on stage - nearly 4 years, prefering to work back stage as director, and recently producer - but I'm getting back up there in a few weeks. And there's nothing like it.

Kinda hard to get the flare for the dramatic out of you, hun? ;) lol

Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.

Lucille Ball

The stage..

A lovely thing the stage. I however can't act, so I watch and enjoy, while attempting not to burst into song. :D

I was always more comfortable behind the scenes... I did get on stage when I had to, but really enjoyed design, stage management and lighting more than anything else. I always got more satisfaction in helping to create the environment than being on stage.

Acting was always fun, but it took a backseat to what was going on backstage.

I think this could work both ways :rose:

For 'twas not into my ear your whispered, but into my heart. 'Twas not my lips you kissed, but my soul ~ Judy Garland

I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when with you. ~ Roy Croft.

From a pure heart comes pure love. This reads backwards also. From pure love comes a pure heart. If we could learn to have a pure heart we could practice pure love. If we strive to practice pure love, we are learning to have a pure heart. This goes for all aspects of our lives. If we practice sexuality with the goal of creating illumination, health and higher powers, we will produce those things....

Love is when thoughts of but one man fill your heart, when he means more than life to you, when you know you would do anything for him and shall die if he is taken from you. Desire is when you ache to see him and touch him, when he causes your body to burn and tremble. Desire does not demand love before it can ensnare you, but desire with love creates a powerful bond

~ Janelle Taylor

Love is the condition in which the happiness of the other person is essential to your own. ~ Robert A Heinlein

Good Morning!

Nobody will ever win the battle of the sexes. There’s too much fraternizing with the enemy. Henry Kissinger

The worst way to miss someone is to be sitting right beside them knowing you can't have them.

This is my favorite quote. I don't know who it is by but as you can see it is also in my sig.

Confidence is the sexiest thing a woman can have. It's much sexier than any body part. Aimee Mullins

Brace yourself - bonanza of Heinlein quotes approaching...

I always felt he has interesting ways to say something:

"Men are more sentimental than women. It blurs their thinking."

"Always tell her she is beautiful - especially if she is not."

"The more you love, the more you can love - and the more intensely you love. Nor is there any limit on how many you can love. If a person had time enough, he could love all of that majority who are decent and just."

"Have you noticed how much they look like orchids? Lovely!"

"A man does not insist on physical beauty in a woman who builds up his morale. After a while, he realises that she is beautiful - he just hadn't noticed it at first."

Some more notes from Lazarus Long...

"Touch is the most fundamental sense. A baby experiences it, all over, before he is born and long before he learns to use sight, hearing or taste - and no human ever ceases to need it. Keep your children short on pocket money... but long on hugs."

"Do not handicap your children by making their lives easy."

"Never crowd younsters about their private affairs - sex especially. When they are growing up, they are nerve ends all over, and resent (quite properly) any invasion of their privacy. Oh, sure, they'll make mistakes - but that's their business, not yours. (You made your own mistakes, did you not?)"

"All societies are based on rules to protect pregnant women and young children. All else is surplusage, excrescence, adornment, luxury, or folly which can - and must - be dumped in emergency to preserve this prime function. As racial survival is the only universal morality, no other basic is possible. Attempts to formulate a 'perfect society' on any foundation other than 'Women and children first!' is not only witless, it is automatically genocidal. Nevertheless, starry-eyed idealists (all of them male) have tried endlessly - and no doubt will keep on trying."

Short, and to the (very sharp) point...

"A motion to adjourn is always in order."

"If you don't like yourself, you can't like other people."

"Little girls, like butterflies, need no excuse."

"You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don't ever count on having both at once."

"Taxes are not levied for the benefit of the taxed."

"You live and learn. Or you don't live long."

"Never underestimate the power of human stupidity."

"Never frighten a little man. He'll kill you."

"Secrecy is the beginning of tyranny."

"The greatest productive force is human selfishness."

"Be wary of strong drink. It can make you shoot at tax collectors... and miss."

"Never try to outstubborn a cat."

"Tilting at windmills hurts you more than the windmills."

"Yield to temptation - it may not pass your way again."

"'All's fair in love and war' - what a comtemptible lie!"

"Natural laws have no pity."

"Everybody lies about sex."

"Anything free is worth what you pay for it."

"A committee is a life form with six or more legs - and no brain."

"A generation which ignores history has no past - and no future."

And one for the thread-killers:

"Don't try to have the last word. You might get it."

A fitting quote for today...

Just a public service announcement...

He who goes forth with a fifth on the fourth, may not come forth on the fifth.

Everyone please be safe
