i have been watching this case unfold on Court TV and in the news and am disturbed by what is being brought up.

It has been brought up that the parents of this little girl were into an "alternative lifestyle" regarding their sex life (swinging and partner swapping). It was brought up to show the jury that the parents let people into their home that were not moral. It also seemed to me that it was brought up to bring doubt to the minds of the jury. You know, saying that any of these sexual deviants could have kidnapped and murdered this child.
i am disturbed that once again just because people don't fit into the norm of society they are judged as imorral and capable of a horrible crime like this.

I know that this is not necessarily a BDSM topic, but i thought that it might fit in here.

You're right, it stinks the way it's described here. But, the facts may be true.

Maybe we can spin it like this:

How many murders have nothing to do with kinky sex as compared to those that do? My guess is that lot's more murders are committed without kinky sex involved. Some are money motivated, there are drug motivations, vanilla passions, plain old hate - nothing to do with kinky sex. Conclusion? Since kinky sex is statistically a relatively low component of murder, have non-stop kinky sex - for you own safety and the safety of those you love! Word out?

What I hate is that so many "normals" think that you MUST have had an abusive chilhood ... Mentally abused .. or some other tramtic episode in your life if you like BDSM ..... or just a plain sick person who has no morals.

So many poeple don't relise that there are aspects of D/s in their lives, yet ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist in their world

Hey.. it wasn't the parents that killed her.

i know that it wasn't her parents that killed her, which is why i think it was ridiculous to bring their sex life into the trial. It was not their friends who killed their daughter, it was a neighbor.

So the question i have is why was their sex life brought up?

That sounds like a plan to me ;)

My bet is to simply to keep the network ratings up for the news.

My question is ... did the cops volunteer this information .. or was it reporters looking for dirt between press conferances?

Rooster...it was the defense attorney who brought it up in court, in the actual trial, as a part of his defense. It wasn't like it was just gossip in the news, it was part of the trial, a part that i feel wasn't necessary.

Actually, if I remember rightly. The Father brought it up when she first disappeared. He knew it would come out and wanted the police to know why people had been at his home and who it had been. At the time it was important that they know who and why.

But is not for the trial.

Ahhh ... I see .... I do admit I haven't followed it much .. but I do remember Fox News 1st reporting it, right after the news broke.

he said he did not care what people thought of him and his wife and the life they led, for they also came out and told the police about their smoking pot too. They only wanted them to have all the information they could to find their baby.
Right from the start they have, seemingly, been open and honest.
