So there are threads for Nerds, for People over 40, Those who like Older Men, and, once upon a time, one for those of us in-between, but I haven’t seen one for something that will be happening to me here soon.

In two months I’ll turn twenty-seven.

Twenty-seven!

That’s only three years from being thirty.

Thirty!

Now I know thirty isn’t as big of a deal as it once was. As the baby boomers have aged and not slowed down it just isn’t as top of mind as it once was. It doesn’t seem to be discussed much anymore beyond the whole “forty is the new thirty” thing.

It is something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. Will I feel any different? Does turning thirty change how others will view me? Will thirty finally place me in that category of “older” man.

It is also interesting that the expectations of what one should be at thirty has changed significantly. Married with kids is still a big part of it, but how many of us are now concentrating on paying off those college loans, going to grad school, traveling all over the place, doing our best to become entrenched in a profession, and taking the time to do those crazy things that people in the past would have seen as a desperate attempt to hold onto our youth.

At no time in history has there been a time where there was such a range of who and what people are as they approach thirty.

So pull up a seat. Feel free to share your own thoughts. Lets figure this thing out and see if we can’t convince some of our older brethren to tell us it’s all going to be ok.

I figured it would be a good time for all of us who are dangerously close…

Neither one of you is even close to thirty! Do you even think about it?

So you aren't worried about having something accomplished in your life by the time you are thirty?

Whatcha mean? I've been married, have a family.. I live on in my children.. The rest of my life, is mine to live. Mine to enjoy. Why stress?

like Tolly, so far I have lived a pretty full life at 21. Just minus the family ^^

I'm a wreck at 26.

But...uhh... I enjoy my life and have fun with it.

I shall soon be a wreck at 27. At least you are having fun ;)

My boobs out measure my age. I can be happy with that.

That is a fine line and should probably be written down and saved for posterity. :)

Pretty much.. more to it than that, but it sums it up nicely.

Anyways, I'm wiped. G'night all

Yeah be sure and quote me on that when I need a humility check.

Lol looks like the Nerd Patrol is out in full force...*waves*

Hey Spins… this thread is like you’ve been listening to the voices in my head.

I don’t think we’ve met ..Spins, I mean, the voices in my head and i are on regular speaking terms ;-) .

I’m AP, or Appy, or Applebear or that crazy lunatic asian bitch from hell…or take your pick of words to call me…I just don’t respond well to “lovey”…

I’m 25… 2 months from my 26th birthday and pretty much the biggest loser out there...teehee!

I’m single (getting used to being, anyway), never been married… leave men who love me, and get left by men who I love… I have a job that pays me for about a third of the hours that I work, which is pretty much 24/7 and nothing short of offering me guaranteed financial freedom FOR LIFE would get me to change occupations…which is to satisfy personal goals rather than any monetary ones obviously lol

I’m stuck in my life and while my ex was celebrating his 29th birthday this year, I was even more worried than he was about turning 30.

but saying all that...all my choices have been conscious ones. I'm a pretty happy person...i make shit loads of mistakes..every single day but...hey that's living :D

I’m not here for one liner quotes about life…to cheer me up...i’ve got Gin for that… cereal box philosophies on life that aren’t practical give me the shits lol and I’m not here hallmark card advice …”live each day like its your last” blech…if I lived a day like it was my last..it WOULD be my last lol…would just love to hear what people feel about this…I guess transitioning time in peoples lives..when you’re restless of the party life…or not :-D…and feel as though you should/could be closer to certain life goals than you thought.

Anyway, lol Mr Spinny..just wanted you to know..you’re not alone... :p
