It sucks about your schools closing, we haven’t yet reached that stage here as yet, seems like our government is taking a different approach to everyone else, fingers crossed it works as I have a 16 year old taking exams in 2 months time

thanks. I have always been an animal person. Spent years volunteering about 20 hours a week at shelters, running funding drives, taking in fosters or wildlife for rehab. I am a children person as well, and did more than my fair share of employment and volunteer activities with them, however children are a bit more exhausting though lol.

I am not sure how I feel about the closing. Depends on decisions made in 2 weeks. the virus isn't actually here yet, and pandemics run months and years. Don't get me started at how devastating long term closing would be. Short term is already highly impacting. people have already lost their jobs due to calling off today, business already have had to hang signs closed due to staffing, kids are already spending their first day in a store as that is where mom works, and people are already begging for food donations given school supplies 10 meals a week per student. Long term closing will cause a lot of people to end up homeless.

Short term closing on the other hand, is a good way to buy time to staff up medical personnel, supplies, come up with plans to rather than isolate 40% of the population, who the longer the isolation goes on, they more will tip over the breaking point and be more affected by poverty than they would have the virus itself, to instead find a ways to protect the 15% who are more endangered by the virus. On top of seeing parents trying to find food and hearing who isn't open yet, I am also seeing people volunteering to run errands and deliver to those who shouldn't risk exposure by those who can.

I hope that is our state governments plan rather than just keep closing until there are no more cases, especially since they have already closed where there are no known cases
