This is a spin off from OhMissScarlett's - Short attention span NANO thread.

The winner is the person who makes the most words from the daily posted word - they get to post the next day's word. Equal scores are decided by who reached the highest number first.

RULES:
Words seven letters and under - minimum 2 letters for new words
Words eight letters and over - minimum 4 letters for new words
Each game closes at 10.00pm GMT, the winner (sort it out between yourselves) posts the next new game word.

Have fun. This first game closes at 10.00 pm GMT 8/11

Starting word is: PROCRASTINATION

Neonlyte and Liar are ineligible this round.

Is there a minimum letter requirement? ie are two or three letter words acceptable, or do we have to actually think? :D

You're making me think!

I don't understand the rules, and I cheated (a librarian has special resources :) ). I'm putting these in alpha order so I don't repeat. Also note that many words can easily take a plural but I won't bother (I only counted once, here are 82 words). Given that I can cheat I won't enter again (couldn't help myself this once though).

acorn, action, actor, airport, airstrip, annotator, anoint, anon, anticipation, anticipator, antics, antipasti, antipasto, ants, aorta, aortic, apart, apricot, apron, aria, aristocrat, aspic, aspirant, aspiration, aspirator, aspirin, astir, attain, attic, atop

cannot, canon, canonist, canst, cant, cantina, canto, cantor, capita, capon, capri, captain, carat, caritas, carp, carrion, carrot, cart, carton, cartoon, cartoonist, castration, castrato, castrati, catnap, catnip, citation, coast, coat, coin, consort, conspirator, constant, constipation, constrain, contort, contraption, contrition, coopt, corn, corona, cotton, crania, crap, crisp, croon, crop

patron, porn, porno, proton, racist

p.s. many of these words can also take the prefix 'anti'.

PROCRASTINATION

A very apt word, i think. :p

Carp, Crap, Post, Port(s), Tarp, Part(s), Stint, Tint(s), Nation, Stain, Roast, Porn, Rain, Train, Strain, Rant(s), Pants, Past, Saint, Ions, Tons, Snot, Cast, Coast, Toast, Roast, Action, Station, Ration, Ratio, Crop, Corps, Trap, Trop, Pint, Aint, Sort, Tors, Rasta, Pasta, Pinto, Onion, Riot, Coin, Taint, Paint, Tort, Tart, Asian, Raisin, Taps, Spat, Rats, Star, Cars, Pars, Rasp, Spar, Actor, Cost, Rocs, Scar, Start, Into, Intra, Intro, Anti, Cant, Scion, Raps, Scat, Scan, Croon, Cartoon, Stoop, Stop, Poot, Troop, Toot, Root, Soot, Strop, Castor, Soar, Print(s), Pins, Tins, Snit, Trac, Sonar, Inaction, Potion, Notion, Option, Rancor, Oars, Orator, Nips, Spin, Span, Sport, Taco(s), Scoot, Stair

I stopped at 105.

Talk about procrastination . . . .

Now that I look at Grushenka's list, if we combine ours, we'd end up with about 150 words . . . . :p

Hmm... perhaps G's and s-w's verbose outpourings put others off.

Might need to change the rules to encourage more 'procrastinators'.

Not meaning to cast aspersions, but the problem with posting all your words, is that anyone coming behind can pick up a few they've missed.......we need a different way to do this.

How about, at the time's up everyone issues a post with a number, i.e., the number of words they have come up with. The one with the highest number, then has to post them, and we can all see where we went wrong.

or

We send a pm to whoever is the moderator for that day/word, with their words and the total number, and the moderator then posts who has won, and then we can all post the words we found.

Does that make sense?

I was thinking about this last night after I had posted, thinking, well I just gave everyone the heads up on the easy words.........

Good ideas, Mats. I think a new thread is called for setting out 'the rools'. Numbers might put people off too, maybe post to say 'I'm in' then edit at the competition close to add the number of words and the words themselves. That way it'll be contained rather than having to search through a mass of posts to see whose won.

'Rools' sounds good.
We'll leave it up to you to make 'em, but the above sounds pretty good to me.
