I was on the fence..
today, I'm in the mood for the acoustic rendition of Hotel California. The twelve strings in the intro make my hips move.

The question I have is; best at what?
Like AC/DC is, basically, a garage band. But they're fan-fucking-fabulous at what they do, which is making basic, dick-swinging, hard partying rock'n roll.
The Beatles, Pink Floyd & Queen have far more subtle influences on music & culture, but each for different reasons.
Led Zeppelin wasn't particularly ground-breaking (much like AC/DC), but they did what they did better than anyone and the effect they had, I mean they pretty well defined rock and roll for an entire decade.

And the list ignores bands like the Moody Blues, which pretty much introduced the notion of a concept album, the Who, which took concept albums and refined it to Rock Opera, or bands like Black Sabbath or the Ramones, which created entire music genres.

The Stones always seemed to understand it was all about the scene, not necessarily the music, but never really rode the scene, particularly the Glam part like Marc Bolin, Bowie or Kiss.

Each band on your list is notable for some reason or another.
So given the lack of definition for 'best', I think I'll decline to answer.

The title is simple. It is fine if you don't want to answer. No band was left off the list because these are the TOP 10 grossing bands of all time per the article I read. Since this site only allows 10 options I had to go with the top 10 bands. The best is however you want it to be. You obviously have your reason not to answer which is fine but unfortunately you won't get to see the results of what everyone else answered without voting.

Is what it is.

I am not a music expert by any means. Nor do i pretend to be one. I just took the top 10 list straight out of an article I found interesting. So I figured I would post it here. Maybe create some dialogue because I know people are passionate about their music. So much so that apparently it is easier to shit on the poll then just answer the question. No biggie to me either way. I don't have any issues with 1SB or with what he said. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.

IHC, have you ever seen "Revenge of the Nerds"? If so, do you recall the scene where the Alpha Betas trick the nerds into a pledge ritual? And they were dressed in hoods? Your AV reminds me of Ogre, in that scene.

Sorry, random comment but I'm feeling a bit random and sassy tonight. :)

Exactly my point.

Actually, I can see the results just by clicking on the underlined text inviting me to see the results.:p
Ya, ya (blah, blah, blah) You are a music geek--admit it.
I am a music geek!
But I think my tastes a bit to individualistic to be considered a connoisseur.

I have been told I look like a hobbit and now revenge of the nerds. Ha. I love it.

Just wanted to add, I voted and commented (this time). I like your polls (except the one with the psycho killers....that one gave me nightmares, LOL)

fair enough didn't realize that was an option. Either way sorry the poll didn't suit your needs tonight. Hopefully tomorrows is a bit better. Thanks for your informative post. I always love peoples takes on their music.

Yeah thanks. I know cerrtain polls don't fit certain people. Certain polls don't have the options certain people like. Not to call anyone out, but Simon doesn't like movies so he doesn't answer the movie polls. Everyone has their tastes, but i have to switch things up just to reduce redundancy.

I think I have overlooked the value of dick-swinging music
I did a brief stint in a short lived 'noise' band, the Swinging Dicks. I was Dick Weed (along with Dick Head (drummer), Tricky Dick (guitar) & Dick Hole (singer)) We played two shows for free beer and were just awful.

I wasn't attempting to shit on your poll, and if I did, I apologize. That being said, I refuse to do superlatives unless the terms are carefully defined.

Ooh, ahh, alpha beta-ah
ooh, ahh, alpha beta-ah

It was a toss up between Queen and AC/DC, but I figured I'd have a better chance of scoring a BJ from Queen. Blowjobs always cast the deciding vote where I come from.

Clowns: And the polls are interesting. Something new at least. Don't mind the peanut gallery.

I'm not complaining, kind sir. My grandpa used to say "you can please some of the people some of the time but the rest are all assholes" LOL Thank you for doing your polls.
