has any one else taken this drug? ive been on it for a week and the last 2 days ive had some major suicide thoughts. today i was on my way to do it until for some reason i backed out. anyone else have side effects like that?

I was on it till I ran out and couldnt afford to refill it. I didnt experience this though. Suicidal thoughts is something that happens alot with people that are deeply depressed and they go on an anti-depressant. If you are having suicidal thoughts you really need to talk to your doctor.
I would call a pharmacy like walgreens that's open late at night and on the weekends, I'm sure they will tell you to quit taking it till you can talk to your doctor, but I could be wrong. Just be very careful.

I haven't taken it, but it's well known that antidepressants of that class can cause suicidal thoughts in some people, so you need to call your doctor ASAP. See if s/he has a pager number listed or if another staff member is on call for emergencies. It's also clearly stated here, on the Cymbalta website. Your local hospital should have a consulting nurse who can tell you if you should be seen sooner or stop taking the drug. A crisis line could also be a good resource. If you feel like you're getting close to it, get yourself to the ER, and they will help you.

thanks sweeterika. the back is doing better but my marriage is done. aperently the ex see's a better life with a married man.oh well now i can find somone new and start over. the med's was the problem i did a search and found out there is a class action law suit. i quit taking it last friday and spent the weekend with some friends to make sure i didnt do anything because i was packed up and ready to go. i did alot of thinking over the weekend and set a goal for mself now if i could just find a women to help me achieve it ill be all set.

i just started taking cymbalta last feb. i switched from Paxil. The only time i felt suicidal was when i ran out and had to wait a few days for the doc to phone in the refill. withdrawl side effects from both drugs can be pretty severe. i hope you are doing ok. Have you had any side effects going off it? (btw i'm going to go look for info about that lawsuit thanks)

My sister is on this drug, she's not suicidal but she says she feels drunk a lot. She says after 2 weeks the side affects disappear but something like suicide shouldn't be taken lightly, if you don't like these meds go back to the doctor and ask for something else. That's what my bf would do when he didn't like what he was taking.

I know this is free speech and you can discuss anything you want, but wouldn't you rather seek another forum to save yourself from being teased or possibly called crazy. This site is SO known for it. Also, this information is easily found on google. All you've got to do is type it in. No offense to anyone, seriously.


Edit: If you have suicide thoughts that you've never had before, get the hell off the drug! Call you doctor immediately. I had to come back to say that. These drugs are known for it. Your doctor will tell you how to wean off it.

There's been some drama and particularly bad posts recently, but most people get plenty of great advice. Perhaps we ought to set the bar higher and hope for the best.

i come on this site alot it has excellent info. i went off the drug friday after the thoughts started. thanks for backing me sweeterika. ive been off it for 3 days and feel alot better.

I didn't say he was being called anything right now, Erika. And I sure hope no one would do such a thing, but it's been happening a lot around here. I haven't been happy with some of the threads, and how people react. I'm sure you know who the people are. I am not going to mention names, but this was the reason why I changed my name and came back to Lit. I do like it here, but I have realized not to get too personal. I am not a person who gets off hurting others, and was just giving a warning as well as my advice.

Yes Tbon, I was on it, I tried to commit suicide on the 4th of July, while on this med, I was moved from Lexapro onto this product, STOP TAKING THIS MEDICATION, the FDA and Lilly are updating their information regarding this drug daily, I have not found a class action suit yet, but am trying to get one started, I have been out of work due to withdraw and side effects from this med, you need to have your kidneys and liver checked as it will permanently damage them, I was only on for about 1 month. If you know anyone who is taking this please get them online,
