*grin if you picture Peter Stepanovich as George W. Bush and the radical Russians as today's radical US Republican party, Dostoeyvski looks eerily prescient!

(Although it IS a bit of a stretch to picture George Bush 41 as Peter's father Stepan hanging himself in disgrace over his son's actions!!)
