I was just wondering if some of the good writers out there, and that is not to imply that any of you aren't, could take a spare moment and give me some tips. I've always enjoyed writing, it's a release from reality for me. Still, I'm not quite used to this Erotica writing and I was curious to know if there are any rules or perhaps styles that I should be aware to include in my stories. With so many stories posted I would like to know what would make a good story stand out from the rest. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And to all of you writers out there, I'm really enjoying reading your stories. Keep it up!

Be yourself!

Don't worry about how others write their stories or the expectations of readers. Just write something, post it, and see how folks respond. There are authors who pen 500 word vignettes and writers who have produced 100,000 word multichapter opuses, and just about everything in between. Write what you want to write, and chances are you'll find readers out there who love it.

So far as rules & guidelines, you'd probably want to check out the "Writers Resources" link on the main page. Obviously, the story should have some sex in it, or be sexy or erotic in some way. Beyond that, well, let the mind go where it will!

What makes a story stand out here is the same as what makes any story stand out-- skillful writing, interesting characters, compelling plots, hot and steamy action.

Don't be afraid to ask for help, feedback, comments, etc. People here aren't shy about giving advice when asked. So sit your butt down and write us a story!

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I've written some stories but other then simple comments like "I enjoyed your story" and "Your story turned me on" I haven't received much constructive criticism. I was reading a few threads though and judging by the violent responses to negative feedback I can understand why people might be reluctant to be honest. I just wan't to preface my stories by saying I'd much rather have crticism then praise. More often then not I already know what is good about my writing. Wow that sounded egotistical...Anyways, thanks again for being so helpful. Looking forward to more contact with actual people!

Nice name love! (SilverSexKitten) As for stories and such, just write about what makes YOU hot, and the rest usually falls into place. You can always submit a story to a volunteer editor, and I'm sure they'd be more than happy to help you with any questions or technicalities. Welcome to the family, and ask if you need anything! ;)
oh and P.S. Kerrie! I kind of like Grizelda Toadwart! kisses, cuz ya know you crack me up everytime I read one of your posts...

Thanks Everyone

I'm really starting to like it here. I hope I don't sucked into spending more time then I should talking and writing in this new world I've found. Thanks so much for you comments, hopefully all of them will motivate me to create a wonderful story. Haha I feel like the young aprentice who is taking advice from the wise masters of their trade. Perhaps in time I'll shed this "newbie" sense and this whole erotic writing thing won't seem as foreign to me. I must say you all have been a great help. I feel inspired and as soon as I can part my life and create some time I'll take another stab at molding a story.
