My ex's dad died yesterday and my kids have gone out of town with him for the week to attend the funeral.

I'm sad about my FIL's death

We were on OK terms. I've actually just been flooded with a mental pictorial of memories.

He and I dancing on my wedding day.

Him holding our first daughter for the time when she just a few minutes old.

Him driving two hours to bring me a much needed breastpump in the middle of the night when my first daughter was a week old.

Him holding the second daughter, born at home, and telling me he knew I was strong enough to do it without drugs.

Him sitting outside with my nephew (then age 3) while my nephew's parents verbally abused each other inside the house.

Lots of stuff. He was NOT a great dad when my ex was little. Much of what he did was unforgivable. But he spent the last few really trying hard to be a better person. He was still a disagreeable old fuck for the most part, but had these really tender moments of pure kindness.

Thanks for giving me the venue to share a little. My ex's family are still fuming mad at me for leaving him. It's tough today.

Ahhhhh fuck. The cold that's been threatening to invade my body has landed.


I worked all day Sunday and then stayed up way too late free associating with the Alpaca. Finally got to bed, read for a little while and then turned out the lights. Drifted off and about 15 minutes later got a call to go to a birth. I head out there sometime in the wee hours Monday morning and just got back here around 10 am. I was up for over 50 hours. And now all the herbs and vitamins I was taking to fight off the cold just aren't enough.

I have a really ouchie cough. And I'm tired. And my throat hurts. Can someone cuddle me please?
