Hi there. :) I would like to pick your brain, if I may. Recently (in Story Discussion, I think) there was a debate that "cuckold" was the wrong word for a "willing wimp" and that he should be called a "wittol". Some people, myself included, spoke of cuckolding as a fetishy lifestyle and also mentioned how sometimes words get "reclaimed" and used in other ways. (IE: Gay meaning happy is also a term for a sexual orientation, Nigga a term - usually of endearment now - spoken between black people. Or women who embrace their sexuality and aren't afraid to admit it turning "slut" into a positive word.)

The original definition of Cuckold (from Merriam-Webster) is: A man whose wife is unfaithful. Nothing more, nothing less. Seems the term is still fitting for a man in this lifestyle. In fact, "cuck" is oftentimes a nickname for said man.

(Sure, the definition of Wittol is: A man who is aware and tolerant of his wife's infidelity; an acquiescent cuckold. -Oxford Dictionary
I think both words are fitting, actually.)

Goddess knows most of the readers in the Loving Wives category disagree and seem to hate the lifestyle. Seems they may have been an unwitting cuckold and are bitter!

I am seeking the opinions of men (or their women, or even bulls) who engage in this lifestyle. Which name/description do you prefer and why? :)

I think cuckold works just fine, but everyone has to realize there are flavors.

I have little patience with semantic hairsplitting. Having said that, cuckolding as a fetish is far, far removed from the original meaning of the word.

Words are redefined all of the time to reflect current social trends. Find a dictionary that has past definitions, and you will find the same word centuries ago means something entirely different today. In reference to the work cuckold, it has been redefined to describe a fetish. The original definition wasn't a fetish, it was a derogatory remark.

Thank you, good to know. I'm new to all the names and terms of things. Always new about different fetishes but the different names of things and there meaning change depending on who you talk to. I think porn sites have a lot to do with them being wrong.

How's that? The original definition is a man whose wife is unfaithful. Look up any of the respectable dictionaries out there... It's a Middle English term... No where does the original definition say anything about "him not knowing" or it happening "behind his back". It doesn't even say "he has to be unwilling"!

As for the lifestyle, there's many niches and avenues just as any other lifestyle. (BDSM, S&m with no D/s, adult baby, ponyboys/girls, etc. Some are 24/7, some are kinky bedroom games, some involve humiliation, etc.)

No need to debate semantics. As I said before, there's a long debate happening elsewhere. I know cuckolding is a popular fetish. As I said in the first post here, I am curious to find out which term those in the lifestyle prefer and why. :)
