Critic's Choice - a contest for authors

Hey all,

For those of you who don't hang out in the Author's Hangout, I thought I'd post a link to a contest we've been doing here. We're nominating stories for a group of volunteer authors to read and rate - we haven't got a real prize or anything, but so far it's been pretty fun. We need story nominations, and we need volunteer judges. Check out the thread, please.

This contest seems very relevant to this forum. I feel a little strange posting this at all here, since it's not exactly story feedback, but I'm hoping to make the next round mainly "Story Feedback" and those of you who enjoy giving author's the attention that they deserve for putting their hearts and souls into these stories should really check it out.

Click the link in Chicklets post above. Read the thread. Couple of questions first? Are you an author or have you given anyone detailed criticism on their stories? I think these are a couple of qaulifying rules on whether you can be a judge.

Maybe they're not. go to the thread and ask.

I'm a new author, and particularly interested in learning techniques to fix problems with my first stories and finding an editor (I am not a great editor).

Try starting a new thread in this forum asking for critiques. But don't forget to add a link if your story has been posted.

And be prepared for some pretty tough criticism too.
