Does this thread only have to be for pictures of oneself? I mean.. can I attach a scenery picture I took or a sunset/sunrise??

If you are looking for a place to post lovely pix that aren't sexy, or whatever... there's a link in my sig that says 'art'.

I almost exclusively use Photoshop. The only freeware program that comes close is GIMP. GIMP is great, though.

I also used to use Illustrator for some of my more complex mandala processes, but I've not been able to install it on my new computer. I've been trying to learn InkScape, which is also FreeWare, but I've just not put the time in.

I've been using Photoshop since it first came out. Illustrator, too. I'm very comfy working in their environments, and have become fairly proficient with basic tasks. I will confess, however, that I've never bothered to learn some of the truly advanced techniques I've seen others do. There are lots of great online tutorials, though.

I will have to check GIMP out. I hear that one a lot. I will admit, the higher end Photoshot lets you do a lot. Its just hard being used to working with one and then changing. Its like going from writing Unix to going to Windows....takes a while to get used to how they do things!

I only used PhotoFiltre untilI was told my cropping was not cropping out everything in the little thumbnails...so I started to use Gimp as well.

The functions I use are select - crop image - resize - and sometimes Gamma Correct or shadows, if I am using B&W. There have been times that I used other things such as posterize or monchrome and with Gimp that soft glow function. But I have no idea how to smooth out skin or get rid of unsightly marks. I would be interesting to use something else, but sometimes I don't have time.

I love the new additions! The women (and Spaz) are looking great..

Haven't used those either. I know that Photoshop will let you fix flaws. I think its actually called FIX. I have used it a lot to remove things - scars, color spots and even items like a wall socket and picture frame!

As for what you post....no restrictions outside of normal LIT guidelines. I absolutely love B&W nature shots. I have a whole collection, a lot with snow, ice and fog. B&W really make those stand out!

Post what you want Honey, I'm sure it will be great!

Thanks Flow....feel free to post the link. I have no problems with regular posters advertising their own threads/sites....it helps get the work out more so all can enjoy!

My thread is actually dead, and I think it makes more sense to post everything here, that is if it is ok with you.

Here are three shots from my 'art' thread:

I'm a dunce

I don't know a thing about pic editing software . . . or any other kind of software, for that matter. The computer tries to hide in a corner whenever I get near it. ;) I leave all that to Mr Crow.

But I absolutely love this thread and all the beauty that appears on it day after day. So, I'll try not to get confused by the technical details and just sit back and enjoy!

Now I have thought about adding a few but I just have not taken time. I use paintshop pro to do my editing but just have to get reaquainted with it again.

Sue, you could post some pix for us to manipulate! (I don't have a model to work with, sadly.)
