Okay my only problem with this is you constantly use the Bible. One thing I know about the Bible is that it was written by humans and humans are creatures of error. So the Bible isn't free of scientific (also historical) error. Still we have carbon dating that shows we've had life on Earth for more than 4000 or so years.
Dendrochronologists can count tree rings back 10,000 years. Where did those ancient trees live?
Lol Im just a biology major,
How the fuck is this thread getting dumber?
I weep for the future of America. Weep.
Humans are very fallible but the people who wrote the Books of the Holy Bible had the truth breathed into them by God. Therefore, every single word is perfect since it comes from The Perfect One.
Carbon dating is a bunch of scientific trickery. We call carbon the CCC which stands for "Chemically Corrupt Crap". You know that to be true when someone says something about carbon being essential to all known living systems. Poppycock! God is essential to all living things. Carbon is part of the devil's toolkit just like porn and most music.
The Bible wasn't even put together till sometime after the death of Jesus and it only has selected books put in it, books that the Church decided the people should believe. So the Bible didn't really come from God, it was created by humans.
But besides that you're only using the Bible to support your claims, where is the solid evidence? That is what you need.
Exactly...
...referencing the poster Oscuridad for any reason on this Board other than a sound source of fluff is as significant as relating lipstick to a pig.
Evidence?
So, LadyKandi, you're saying that God isn't a master of time and space. Right. You fail to understand that the content of The Good Book is timeless. God already knew every letter, every word, every concept that would be in The Holy Book long before people were created. But He knew that humans needed to see the ideas on paper so He let people develop it via our very simplistic methods. People are naturally skeptical so He allowed us to get The Word in a manner we could - with our limitations - comprehend. It is not your fault you don't understand it because - like everyone including me - you are limited intellectually.
Bottom line: The Holy Bible, the most translated book of the last 4,000 years, details The Beginning through The End Times. The content in 10,000 science books does not equal the knowledge available on one page of The Bible.
I just read¹ a book which contained a chapter completely refuting Darwin and proving God. Godless by Ann Coulter.
She proved God by saying, "God can do anything including evolution."
So there. Creation wins.
¹read means sat down and read thoroughly until her inane version of vitriol toward anything not her annoyed me, then I skimmed.

The fact is God could have made it a lot easier on himself and made us all run around like robots adoring him. But he loves us. This is not a quote from the bible but I think it is helpful. "If you love something let it go. If it comes back to you, It is yours forever. If it doesn't it never was. " Just an interesting thought. He loved us enough to let us go, but he stands there with open arms hoping our choices bring us back to him.

Ok, I still don't get the bit about loving us sooooo much and giving us free choice. But, if we fuck up and 'don't return to him' he fries us in hell for eternity? Sorry, that's just weird shit.
Seriously, I believe I am better off with how I view the world. I'm open to change - hey, there might be a miracle this afternoon and God appears to me, well, sure I'm going to believe then. But you, I wonder how you would rationalise your faith if tomorrow science proved beyond doubt that the earth is about 4.5 billion years old and that the bible isn't an accurate record of events ? To me I see your life like an inverted pyramid - it's been built and balanced on one very small foundation.
I think I am more likely to join a religious order than you are to accept science over the bible. So, this will be my last post on this thread, unless of course God pops in to my office after lunch - I'll be sure to post that news. Take care.

I'm less worried about Hogjack and more worried people are responding to him.
Oh, hogjack doesn't seriously mean any of the bullshit he's saying, he's just giving us a demonstration of Poe's Law.

Stories, you mean. At least four books full, and none of them agree. The Holy Bible provides dates, events and a timeline that clearly proves a very young Earth. However - just for the sake of argument - let's say the Bible's truths have been misinterpreted or misunderstood. In that case I think most believers would be fine. The foundation of the faith is not about how old Earth is or how the fuck everything was created. That's all interesting BUT it misses the point of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, savior of our souls.
Creationist. Evolutionist. Whatever! All I know is a tall, European-looking Jewish carpenter walked on (or floated over, depending) the planet's surface. He had long hair, a powerful voice, six-pack abs and probably some very crude tattoes. And that dude's story is still being told 24-7 today!

I explain to my son that funny means it should be funny for the people hearing it also. I tell him it's rude to confuse people on purpose and think that's hilarious. It's just annoying.
Someday, maybe. *sigh*
There are proponents in the "6,000 years old" camp but these are mostly evolutionists pretending to be God-loving creationists.
6,000 years might as well be 600 million years.
