Hey, I'm lookin for some advice,

I'm thinking about starting a porn site. Any suggestions would be great. Everything from how to make money from it to content to what I need to do would help me out. Porn and erotica are two things I know a lot about, but I have no freakin clue how to get into it as a business. Thanks!

Well here is a good thought. If your trying to make a business out of it, maybe you should spend time coming up with a business plan. You know, what you plan to invest, do with the business, what it's about, who's your target. You may just say "porn and guys" but there is a lot more.

Coming onto a forum like this and asking someone to basically set up your business is dumb. Get some original ideas and see what you can do.

As for making money, it depends if your getting people to sign up for your site, getting other sites to pay you to advertise them, or getting other companies to advertise. That's about all your options.

Thank you HereComesTheRain. That will definately help me out. Thanks to you too Ravin. The problem isn't so much the content and how I want the business to be laid out. Those things I know. It's more or less how to do certain stuff and what people want. I know what I see in a lot of porn and what I like, but I'm not sure if that's what everyone else likes. Is beastiality a bigger genre of porn than I think? How much will people pay to download porn? How do I get credit card payment as an option? Where do I find servers? Stuff like that. Hopefully, the like HereComesTheRain gave me will provide a lot of the technical aspects I'm looking for, but does anyone else have input on what porn they might be willing to pay for on a website or any other useful tidbits to pass along?

Do a search on google for "adult site webmasters" or something similar. I'm sure you can find people in the business to help.

One thing you should research thoroughly is the legal ramifications that you might run into. Are you prepared to defend yourself in court against a "decency" suit? Communities have different standards when it comes to porn.

I've heard of a guy that makes good money with his site but he has been in court defending himself in more than one state. He is still in business but at a price.

Do a lot of reading on the adult webmaster sites. Read the articles and the message boards. It's how I started.

Try to find some unique or a niche to promote.

Don't start a pay site until you know what you're doing.

That's what I did when I stared. I made a deccent buck when I was working at it part time. Now, I'm still getting checks even though I haven't done any adult webmastering in a months.

Read some more articles.

It's getting harder to make a buck but it's doable.

Set your sights on a specific target audience. I personally dont think that there are enough 'classy' porn sights around so perhaps you could aim at an upper-class market. There would definately be a demand for quality products and therefore you might be able to make a bit more money than the average porn-joe.

Content wise: I would use black and white photos, I think that they are so gorgeous, and are not used enough to depict sex on the net.

Steer away from the tacky excess advertising and be sure to stick to a certain colour scheme. Being different is essential!
