I have decided that I wanted to create a web site based on a specific topic.

I don't want to sell anything, but would like to be able to be linked to sites that do sell merchandise that would be related to the site's topic that I want to create.

So here are just a few of my questions:

Should I use a free web hosting service? Knowing that these are offered free to be used in exchange for ad space and banners placed on my site is a huge drawback for me. I want to be able to profit from my "referrals" to already established companies that can handle their own sales and shipping and all that jazz.

Are there cheap, lost cost ways to get a domain name that will allow me enough space to expand my site as it grows, and be able to place link ads for other companies to sell to my visitors?

Do I need to purchase software or a program to build a web page?

How do I go about contacting the companies I want to offer ad links to and arrange to be a commissioned sales link to them?

If you can answer any of these, I would be very greatful.

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I would suggest paying for a webhost if you wanna build a decent forum

domain names are cheap. just go to www.godaddy.com and they offer reasonable rates

also, a decent forum to have and worth paying for .. is .. http://www.vbulletin.com

To create web pages all you need is a text editor, such as Notepad in Windows. You may be able to upload files to your website via the web, or you may need an FTP client, a simple form of which should come with your computer (in Windows - start->run, type cmd, then at the prompt type ftp).

My 3 1/2 cents!

My M-I-L is an artist, has her own website and she hosts it through Earthlink but has her own domain name. My best advice is to do some searching around and see what you find...

thank you all

I will keep reading on all the tips and hints.....but thanks for all of you taking your time to answer me.

Greetings,
I would suggest you pop over and check our Drak.org. I have built two different web sites using them for two very different customers. They are reasonably priced, offer lots of "bells and whistles". The owners of the company are great ladies and very helpful! Along with your package, you have the ability to use an online editing program. I have been working with them for over a year and a half, to date, I have had no complaints.

Good luck with your site!

Kym, there are a few "free" websites out there that are specifically for Adult related materials, and would probably be your best bets, do a google search for that stuff. Not sure if they allow domain hosting, but I used godaddy.com to renew my domain at a cheaper price for 4 years, than one year normally costs with network solutions. Yes they do new domain names too, for less than &9 per yer. (great price)

If you want tome help with a basic site idea, PM me, and I'll help when or where I can.

Lo
