Couple Swapping Idea:

Tina and Mike (names unimportant) have been married for ten years, ever since Tina turned 18. Tina was raised in a Catholic family and believed that she should save her virginity for her husband. She did so, and therefore he is the only man that she has ever fucked. They experiment together, though. They've done anal, a few different positions, a little bondage and some other fetish stuff they've seen online.

Mike's ex girlfriend comes back into his life. Not in any romantic sense, just that she appears one day and he greets her. Tina feels a little bothered at this, and broods about it for some time. She voices her worry and Mike tells her that it's okay, he loves Tina, nothing is going to spark up that old flame. Then Tina asks how sex with the ex was.

Okay girls, I know everyone has wondered and asked this question of their boyfriends/husbands. Was "she" better than me? Tina gets the same answer ALL of us do! "NO." But she's still bothered.

Mike, unlike most guys I know (not to try to make the males out there feel bad, you can't help it!) feels a little weird. He starts, for the first time in 10 years, to feel a little down about himself. He wonders how he compares to other men. On the one hand, he is happy that Tina likes him, happy that he's the only one Tina has ever been with, happy that Tina saved herself for him...but on the other hand, he wonders if she'd still be happy with him if she'd experienced more.

Tina is thinking to herself that she wonders what other men are like. She loves Mike, loves him to death, enjoys sex with him A LOT. But still she wonders..."what if..."

The two of them have a serious talk, discussing their feelings. They both think that Tina ought to have some more experience, to make both of them feel better. They start to decide what to do about it.

A local paper has some personal ads in it, for swingers. They bring it home and scan the ads, thinking about calling some. They end up calling a couple that sounds a lot like them, and meeting them at a restaraunt for dinner. The two couples hit it off, become instant friends, and are attracted to each other (mike to the other wife, tina to the other husband.) After dinner they get some ice cream and go to the park.

They talk about possibilities of sexual encounters between each of them. Tina confesses that the idea of seeing Mike with another woman, or him seeing her, scares her, and she would feel uncomfortable with it. They decide to go to a hotel, get two seperate rooms, and spend the night with each other.

So off they go. I'm picturing more of a romantic setting, a mock courtship, so to speak, with champagne and flowers and whispers in the ear. (For Tina, at least. She's pretty innocent and scared about this stuff.) Dunno what Mike and the other wife are up to!)

So they get jiggy with it. They spend the entire night together, after the sex they aren't allowed to run back to their mates, they have to stay and talk with the other person, get to know each other better. They sleep in the same big bed and shower together in the morning, as if it were a short affair they were having in younger days. After the hotel, the two couples leave with their husbands/wives, and go home, back to normal life.

The two couples remain friends, eating out together, going on outings together and camping trips and the like. Should they switch again sometimes? I'm not sure...

I have tried a three couple story in the past. The third couple seems to add confusion and little else. Another complication is the added length for character development.

One possible solution would be having the third couple as passive observers. Make them voyeurs. Or, resurrect that previous thread about the small penis guy. That couple is unwilling to expose his size.

Go to the "Group" category, swing a dead cat, you'll hit six stories like this the first time around.

Nice twist though, Chicklet. Might be hard to do. Problem is, it could turn out like a murder mystery with the sex tacked on, or vice versa. Any ideas on how to integrate the two threads?

there's something incredibly post-modernist about a serial killer plucking off a bunch of swingers one-by-one. Something about a comment on how the modern, industrialized world separates sex from love and creation and turns an activity meant for life and renewal into one that breeds destruction of spirit and loss. But oh doesn't that sound depressing. But the good news is, it's modernism, so you can dress it up real pretty and make it LOOK nice and uplifting and sexy, and call all of that gloss part of your point about how difficult it is to find anything real these days. OK, enough of my flashback to my English classes. Chicklet, i like this idea, you write it and i'll deconstruct it.

Crime (read sin) and punishment is not a big hit here on Lit. I posted an incest story a while back. "Ma and Her Outlaw Sons", in the incest category, brought that realization home for me. I had them get caught in the end. Half the feedbacks howled about how unfair that was. The other half begged for a sequel. They wanted a jailbreak so Ma could get poked in the ass by her boys.

We seem to like our stories fantasy rich and consequence free. And why not? The real world has enough consequences for everyone.

don't apologize, you're making me wistful for my college days. I was an English major.

Consequences need not involve AUTHORITIES or commonly held ideas about justice. To me, punishments are far more weighty, when they involve states of being -- things the state cannot impose upon people. And just based on the tenor of this place, i would bet that you could put people in some pretty dark emotional, or even spiritual, prisons in your stories and get a much better response from Lit members.
