Cough Medicine and Whiskey

Someone should have warned me... guess I wasn't thinking...

I "officially" started vacation on Thursday but flew home late Wed night from a business trip with a bit of a cough which was a full fledged cold by Thurs morning. And even though, theoretically on vacation, I had work to do much of the day... and the cold got worse and worse... Thurs night, Friday was just miserable - didn't even go to the gym...

Great way to start vacation, huh?

Anyway - by yesterday (Saturday) while still coughing/congested at least I had slept some and was mentally feeling a lot better...

So yesterday night - I broke out the Maker's Mark, without taking into consideration that I was still on cough medicine...

WOWIE ZOWIE!

I haven't been that HIGH in a couple decades...

Now, I'm not condoning this (don't try this at home kids) but... I was flying and feeling no pain...

i was tempted to log on and do a "How High am I" thread but I wasn't quite sure if I could make it down the stairs, let alone remember how to turn the computer on...

I'm on the Maker's Mark again right now - but no cough medicine (though I sure am tempted)...

Have you ever heard of people doing massive amounts of Robitussin and getting high on it?

I think they call it Roboing or something. I've heard it's more intense than acid, but I couldn't imagine it.

I have the liquor, but no cough medicine. Should I go get some?

I've heard of it - but it always sounded like a cheap high to me - I'd rather just get some pot or acid (many many years ago) and do it up right...

This was unexpected... and I guess the lack of sleep and other factors combined... it was pretty spacy...

Maybe its the specific combo of Tussin DM and Maker's Mark?

Maybe I just needed it...

There was a thing back in the 60's (of course) involving copious amounts of cough medicine containing codiene, which, at the time could be purchased over the counter without an Rx... So I've HEARD!... ("yeah, that's the ticket").

I'm feeling much better, thank you... sticking to the Whiskey and staying OFF the cough medicine...

weathered2 - ah yes... I do vaguely recall that - but I prefer my "adventures" to be somewhat pre-planned (ie - I got high by my choosing, not by accident... )

When i was a kid, my dad had a sure cure for a cough - half a tumbler of Canadian whisky, a tablespoon of sugar, and hot water. mix it all together a chug-a-lug the whole thing down. Guarrantteed to let you sleep through the cough.

I knew a bunch of guys quite a few years ago that did the Robotussin thing. It had/has Codeine (sp) in it which is what got them high.

a "few" years back, Romilar was the thing-with all the alcohol and codeine
it contained, ya didnt need no stinkin whiskey!!
