People say that because your being nice is a dumb shtick. Saying things like "I like you even though you're mean to me" is stupid. You don't like people that are always mean to you. Be yourself. People will either like you or not like you, but they won't be annoyed at you for playing games.

No, I was actually raised in an abusive home if you want to know the truth. I pretty much was very very quiet because if I did something wrong there was hell to pay, most the time for the person I loved the most. It made me good at diffusing bad situations when I worked in mental health nursing for 17 years. So I tend to want to diffuse nasty situations on the boards. I genuinely don't dislike anyone. I just dislike some of the things they do. When someone comes at me on the boards I tend to want to slow them down. It's been a challenge to be on the boards with my background but last night I actually stood up to the best of my ability to a bully. That is the thing. I am not playing games. I am being me. I tend to want to be a people pleaser. That is all.

Last night in an attempt to get to know some GB members that have started posting again, I made a thread. Someone suggested that I just keep my eyes and ears open and I would learn everything. Well I've been here a little while and this is what I think is going on. Correct me if I'm wrong.


Kyle is married to Jinx but there is a lot of sexual tension with Islandman.
Dolf is the queen of the GB and everyone seems to want her arse.
Someone named karen is actually an old guy named ken.
WQ is secretly wanted by the men of GB but she intimidates them.
Sean and Rory are a lot alike.
Lancaster likes breast milk.
Bronzeage is the King of the GB.

Not a bad little synopsis, actually.
I hadn't noticed the Kyle/Jinx/Islandman drama.

Dolf and WQ are "over-sharers", you can ask them virtually anything and chances are they'll respond...though you might not like their responses. This makes them simultaneously "much admired" and "much reviled". They seem to frighten beta males here.

"Karen" was both an old guy AND his son. The political blather was daddy, the "tell me rape stories" was junior.

Sean and Rory are alike only in that they antagonize the holy hell out of certain people.

Lance is the only person left here who can cut through the cobwebs of Ishmael's rapidly advancing dementia. It's his gift. He also makes Vetteman cry. That's his other gift.

Bronzeage is listed in the royal peerage (53rd in line for the British throne, up from 55th last year...woo hoo), hence the "King of the GB" cracks. It's amusing watching women curtsy in front of him at Lit get-togethers, he always gets so nonplussed.
