Why don't they leave names?

This was a feedback I got this morning in my mail:

This message contains feedback for: Ukin
About the submission: Hostess
This feedback was sent by: Anonymous

Comments:

On of those wimp and slutwhore stories again... sigh

Are they afraid to leave thier name?

Do others get this sort of comment?

Oh well...who cares!:D :D

I get plenty of anonymous comments. People just want to tell you how much they liked your story and figure, "What the hell do I need to give my name for? It's not like I need to be put into a database or on a mailing list or anything. Will my comment matter more or less because I attach the word 'Bobby' at the end?"

Nope maybe it won't...but then again..I am new to the Lit and I consider it etiquette to add my name to all my feedback..but then my comments aren't crass ones...I believe it helps to discuss their comments...it helps me to see it from thier point, following discussion..but that is me...different strokes for all I guess.

As I recall from previous discussions, lots of people don't want anything connecting them with porn/perversion,because they don't want their family/employer, etc. to know.

They don't want to be identified with anything critical they say.

They are self-concious about their own grammar & punctuation when communicating with a writer.

They don't want a come-on from a pervert porn-writer.

They are actually intimidated, thinking you are a famous professional writer that couldn't have time for them.

Feedback is relatively rare as it is. Many people print off stories & read them in bed, alone or together, & never return to vote secretly, much less comment.

Patient...thank you for lucid comments...and I can see your point of view and very much accepted too....and they make sense.

I guess as a relative newbie...I should just accept that there will be those sorts of responses, smile and continue writing!

Thank you both for posting, for making it clearer to me.
