I can only lounge around my house for so long, especially in the winter when there's no gardening or beach basking to be done.

So! I went out with my cousin and a friend riding this morning (I love horse back riding in the snow) and her friend was telling me about this program our town stables run. Basically they teach special needs kids to ride as physical and mental therapy. It sounded like a great idea so I gave them a call when I got back and I'm going over tomorrow to meet the people who run the stables and the people who run the program.

Ya know I think there are more non-profits on Cape Cod than there are in most major cities. I love this fucking sandbar.

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!!!
In a world where there is so much me, me, me, it's refreshing to see someone willing to give something of themselves. You are to be commended. This is a hard but rewarding group of individuals to work with.

We had a stable near where I grew up that was like this. In the fall for a week, and in the spring for a week, out high school ran a program where we would go there and learn about horses, and the only price they charged the group that went, was mucking out stalls.

All of the horses they had were exceedingly gentle, due to the special needs children that regularly rode them.

Good luck with this sunstruck. Any program that helps children with special needs is near and dear to me. I hope you'll let us know how it goes.

Most of these horses are owned by local residents who volunteer them for the program. They test the horses out for temperment before hand of course.

It just seems like a great idea. I love horses, I love kids and it's only three mornings a week so even if I decided to do something full time down the line I can still fit it in. I'm fairly excited.

We had a program like that in my high school. It was a tiny private school in the middle of nowhere, and we had stables on the property. It was amazing. Most of the kids who went to school there were totally over-privileged, and some of them even brought their own horses and boarded them at the stable there, and would let them be used in the program. While I was never a rider myself, I used to go out there on Saturdays and help with the program, and it really was an amazing program. To see a child with a debilitating illness, such as Down syndrome, on a horse, with that sense of accomplishment, it always made all of us feel so wonderful. We even had children in wheelchairs, and special saddles to allow them to ride. Good luck to you with the volunteering, it really is a magnificent program.

Hey I know!

I'll post something about wanting to do volunteer work involving children out of the goodness of my heart and unemployment to make me look like some sort of saintly upstanding person and maybe that will distract the heat and attention away from the fact that people are onto me about the less than honorable things that I'm doing behind my husband's back. Yeah!!! That should work!!!!!

Give me a fucking break, Mrs. C.

Believing that the only members this could possibly be are brat and Lance gives you a nice little false sense of security, doesn't it, Red?

That's nice. Hold onto that if it makes you feel better, but also keep in mind that it's usually while wading in that warm pool of false security and false pretense, that one tends to be a little more careless and slip themself up.

You may be exempt from Spelling Buddy, darlin, but no need to feel left out. You're not even close to being exempt from Hypocrisy Buddy :).

PS.... Karma Buddy sends his best and says he'll see you soon ;).
