I was thinking of it strictly as a personal possession. I've never been able to maintain a journal by hand because each time I make a stray mark, I fight the urge to recopy the whole damned thing to make it pretty.

My trouble with keeping a journal is that I always write down the wrong things. I might be going through a phase in my life where my entire philosophy is changing, and instead I'll write down how many tacos I ate for lunch or spend 2 pages musing about platform shoes.
