Conversation

A difference of opinion is what makes us unique and being able to go with that difference and work with it as adults is an awesome thing. We are going to meet and deal with a lot of people that disagree with us and we can only move forward and do what we can.

You guys really dont think you can spot the fakes? Some are intentionally absurd so those at least I'm sure.

Kindness and compassion can go a long way. Send a message today with that in mind, a simple hello to make someone smile. Make that your only intent, just trying to bring a smile to Someone.

i like a good conversation with some one male or female. i find that there are a lot of people that post on here that i find very interesting. i try to see if i can strike up a conversation with them. i am not pushy about it but i hope i can say something of interest to them.i also know that alot of great people here that post a lot have a lot of people they already talk to. that makes it tougher to get into a conversation one one with people. i do keep trying though and just go on reading posts.

Yeah. Not sure how good at it I am though.

There is no question about that, it is not easy to get a good conversation going. There are people that wont talk to more than one person and many people that have several going on at once. To draw them in is not an easy task. Just keep your head up, be respectful and have something to offer. Keep smiling and enjoy the site.

I love one-on-one conversation in written form, with actual paragraphs. I love the rush of getting a reply and having to craft a complex response.

Sadly I think it's becoming something of a lost art. It's increasingly harder to find true written correspondence in the age of smartphones and instant message apps where everything is geared toward one-line replies.

Yeah it was easier when I had a keyboard. I think the smartphone really limits you.

I actually hate that.

I can't live without a desktop PC and a full-sized keyboard. Using a smartphone to get thoughts out of my head is painful for me.

I guess that makes me an old curmudgeon.

It is painful. I just haven't been able to go off by myself and get totally engaged without feeling selfish since I had kids.

I think those guys that would come into forums and write tldr under anything more than a paragraph kinda ruined forums too

Facebook... *shudder*

I think I really AM an old curmudgeon, lol

I know! Is awful. Just people liking really short low effort posts that are not very interesting. No one actually talks about anything.

You don't have the variety of people from all over the world either.

I'll admit to writing a lot of low effort posts lately, but I'm distracted and don't have my keyboard.

Social media is definitely a magnet for all things low-effort. Beyond keeping track of friends and family, it really has become a detriment in my opinion.

I wonder what happened to all those people that used to post. I can't believe they think Facebook is better.

It's probably the ease of embedding pictures/video into a post on there. Nobody is attracted to words anymore. :(

Yeah and I don't know why. I know visual media had always been more popular but you would think the massive growth in the number of people using the internet would make it easier to find people with your obscure interests, not harder.

As it becomes more ubiquitous, I think it turns some commonplace interests obscure, and obscure interests, well, moreso. Technology shapes culture, for better or worse.
