Contraception is Next

Senate Republicans block bill to recognize legal right to contraception

Republicans continue to signal that they will outlaw contraceptives at their first opportunity.

Senate Republicans on Wednesday blocked a bill that would have recognized a legal right to contraception , weeks after Donald Trump made – and quickly walked back – comments indicating he was willing to restrict access to birth control.

As expected, the Right to Contraception Act fell short of garnering the 60 votes Senate Democrats needed to advance the bill. Before the vote, Democrats in effect acknowledged that they were daring Republicans to go on the record opposing the right to something that almost all American women use at some point in their lifetime.

“Senate Republicans just went on the record saying they do NOT support access to contraception,” the Democratic US Senator for Washington state, Patty Murray, posted on Twitter/X after the vote. “Yes, you read that right.”

I would expect that these Republicans are very much out of touch with Republican women as well as Democratic woman.

NOBODY but a handful of misogynsistic control freaks wants Government restricting people's most private and intimate activity.

They're not denying it. They've gone on record saying they WANT to put quote "the element of danger" unquote back into sex.

Really? Where's the exception for matters of Faith? Oh, that's right, the bill was written and passed by Communist Atheists, aka democrats, who would shit can the 1st amendment right along with the 2nd.

Sometimes what ISN'T in the legislation is just as important as what is.
Faith should never influence law. Why do you hate the Founding Fathers?

It is ALL about faith. Belief in freedom and personal choice.

It is your choice not to use birth control or contraception- especially if your religious views forbid it.

My religious views do not forbid it. In fact, my religious views encourage birth control and contraception as a way to prevent unplanned pregnancies- and abortions.

BUT this is the key that the chobham harpie wizzards will NEVER understand... My religious views do not impose or restrict yours. You have the freedom to abstain from contraception and sex, I have the freedom to use contraception and enjoy sex. We both get to experience life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness- as outlined in the Constitution.

So, your religious views should not restrict or impinge on mine. This is how a free society works.

Don't drag my name into this asshole. I have NO religious stand regarding contraception or abortion. What I do have is a respect for the Constitution and the rights granted others by said document.

Um…
Ok…
Then why are you here???

(@ Chobham, literotica guru) That is good that you respect the constitution and the rights granted to others by said document. Because, obviously, not everyone on here does. And I must apologize for mistaking you for one of those people and dragging you into it.

Wow, the call back to 1798 is so funny.

I really am not sure what the play is here… let’s just go for male castration- that will solve the pregnancy issues-right?

Let’s see how many votes we get now. That should be added as an amendment to anything that moves on this issue. Since many don’t read the full legislation, whoops!
Be careful, your slip is showing.
