Congressional Black Caucus: Sequester Cuts Racist…

The CBC is nothing if not predictable.

Via The Hill:

Members of the Congressional Black Caucus said Monday night that the $85 billion in cuts to federal spending, known as the sequester, will disproportionately affect blacks and other minorities, in part because they are more likely to work for the government.

“Sequestration will impact everyone, but it will have a particularly harmful effect on communities of color who were hit first and worst by the great recession, and have yet to significantly feel the effects of the recovery,” Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) said Monday.

“Federal budget cuts under sequestration would quickly mean cuts to federal, state and local public-sector jobs, which disproportionately employ women and African-Americans.”

Lee said in 2011, employed blacks made up 20 percent of the federal, state and local public-sector workforce, and that women were 50 percent more likely to work in the public sector.

Lee was joined by Del. Donna Christensen (D-Virgin Islands), who agreed that cuts to public-sector jobs would hurt blacks disproportionately.

“African-Americans are more likely to work in the public sector, where the jobs are going to be cut,” she said. “We already have the highest unemployment, and will be severely hurt by the reduction in unemployment benefits.”

The Congressional Black Caucus is an anachronistic entity and racist.

Plus, it's a joke.

LMAO, they've finally admitted that government employment is little more than a minority jobs program.

A normal civilized society would ostracize these types

That we don't, shows we have fallen to depths that will destroy us

CBC Reps John Lewis, Eleanor Holmes Norton Say NFL’s Washington Redskins Must Change Racist Name…

Second CBC race card post of the day, I’m sure they have a few more in them, someone find Sheila Jackson Lee and ask her a question.

Via The Hill:

Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) and D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (D) are urging the Washington Redskins to seriously consider changing the team’s name.

Lewis, a civil-rights hero, told The Hill that “we have to be sensitive” to the concerns that the name is offensive to some people. He said the NFL team “should consider” a name change, pointing out that he has been asked similar questions about the Atlanta Braves’s “Tomahawk Chop,” which has attracted criticism from Native American groups.

In a phone interview on Monday, Norton said, “Nobody would let a comparable name to blacks stand.”

The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) member noted that the Washington Wizards used to be called the Bullets, adding that the team enjoyed goodwill for the name change and that the Redskins would benefit similarly.

The controversy over the Redskins name has intensified in recent weeks. Washington, D.C., Mayor Vincent Gray suggested a team name would need to be made if the team wants to move its home games from Maryland to the nation’s capital.

Asked if she thinks the Redskins will eventually change, Norton responded, “I certainly do. But nothing happens without pushing and shoving … I am a fan of the Redskins. I’m just not a fan of their name.”

Indeed.

Same thing happens when redundant weapons systems are threatened in the budget. The lobbyists get busy and the politicking gets nasty.

That's another government jobs program filled with pork aplenty. I know pork.

..The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) member noted that the Washington Wizards used to be called the Bullets, adding that the team enjoyed goodwill for the name change and that the Redskins would benefit similarly...

Probably the stupidest thing ever done by a professional sports team, and its been a positive in their view? Beyond words...

Some people actually think political correct name changing is a positive thing? They admit this publically? Just wow...

Get rid of all the First Nations related team names and the average person will think less about that group of the population than they do now. In everyday life I normally never even think about First Nations. A sports team name or mascot keeps this numerically small segment of the population in people's consciousness. At this point, I really no longer care one way or the other myself. The name change of the Bullets to Wizards though, that one still pisses me off everytime I think about it.
