Today's your very special day. Ten years ago you made a life saving decision and have stuck to it. Absolutely AMAZING. Your strength and courage are incredible. The joy and friendship you've shared has enriched so many! (Not to mention all the lovely music you've made)

I know it hasn't always been easy, but I join with all your friends to tell you how very glad I am that you're here with us and how very much I appreciate having you in my life.

Happy "Birth" Day!

(and have lots of fun at your gig tonight, too!) :D

BB, it's obvious you've made Somplace happy.....that makes me happy. Rock on

Congratulations on 10 years of... whatever

And a most happy birthday
May the next 10 years be as .... decisive as the first

Congrats Bluesy. I still drink occasionally and don't trash those who do. But if one makes a commitment and sticks to it over the years, this is a great anniversary.

Here is to ten more years.

See??? You're so much stronger and more committed than you think you are.;)

I am so proud of you, bud. The things you have struggled so deeply with, it seems you've beaten. Kudos!

Have a wonderful day, and play your heart out tonight.:rose:

Happy "Birth" day, sweetie pie.

I will even drop the "good" girl side and give you big kisses and snuggles. And a grope.

You are one of the nicest, most caring people I've met on this board and I adore you !

Thanks for just being you.

:p (I even threw in some tongue, but don't tell anyone)

Oh good gawd ........ two Shatner references in a row!!!

 ;)

*ahem*
Now onto the important stuff.

Congratulations and Happy Birthday!!!!!!
You are such a strong and very special person.
I'm so grateful for having you in my life.
You have been such a wonderful friend to me and done more for me that I'm sure you realize.
Thank you for that and thank you for making that decision.
It can't have been easy but you did it and you're still standing!

Oh God! *laughing* You guys are Great! Thanks for sharing BB's big day. He'll be along soon, I'm sure (as soon as I relinquish control of the keyboard). I'm off to the salt mines, so y'all have lots and lots of FUN today!

If I knew how to post a music link, I would have posted Sir Bill singing "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", but I don't, thank God.

:)

Ah A diamond in the "ruff". Now that I can relate to.

I remember that song well. I even had it on 8-track. OMG did I say that?

But would you "show"? :D

That depends:D

8 Track? You have William Shatner singing LSD on 8 track?

You're Bluesboy's brother aren't you?

Wow! I really don't know what to say except thank you. It was very nice to see this first thing this morning, and to see the sincere responses from people I consider good friends, beyond mere posting buddies. This is very touching to me.
Someplace knows I am sensitive about sharing my issues but I will clarify what this is about. Ten years ago today I got sober. I have never had even one slip up. I did it all on my own. No AA, NA ect... Prior to that I had been an addict for many many years. My entire adult life up to that point. From age 12-35 to be exact. This is probably one of the few things in my life I have done that I am truly proud of.
And so to celebrate I will be playing an open mic. At a bar. LOL.

I am really at a loss for words. Truly this is an amazing community and very supportive. Sometimes I forget how many really wonderful people are members.:rose:

Sweetie, you deserve all the accolades and best wishes you get.

You're a strong and very brave man to have accomplished what so many fail at.

:)

Good job, bud!! I didn't know. I shouldn't have offered to buy you a drink the next time I'm in Houston, sorry about that!!

Well, it wasn't as hard as you might think. It was quit or die. Literally. Die was actually my choice at the time and I tried that to be honest. But I wasn't successful. My friends (I am blessed with SO many real friends. The kind that are there when the going gets tough) wouldn't allow me to give up. So really they have as much to do with this if not more so than I do.

An offer of generousity is never a bad thing. How could you have known? I took it as an act of friendship and a gesture of good will.
I have no issues with drugs or alcohol anymore. I simply don't want to indulge. I have no desire. Hell, I am in bars all the time. I watch people drink and it doesn't faze me in the least.

Well I for one am glad they didn't allow you to give up - at least til your own inner strength kicked in and helped you to get where you are today.

Happy "birth" day BB. Other than that I can only ditto what my other half has already said.
