Condom Query

I might sound stupid, put it down to still being a silly virgin.

If a condom "breaks" in that 1% unlucky occurance do you KNOW it has broken? Is it fairly obvious if you do some kind of test to see? I ask because how do you know when you should take the "morning after pill", is it just for when you had unprotected sex in some drunken mistake or is it also for when you know something went wrong. I ask because although it's unlikely something will go wrong with condom use I am a little worried and would be reassured if it was possible to know when something had gone wrong so you could take further mesures against pregnancy.

Some information would be very much appreciated.

If you that unsure take the morning after pill. But you can always ck the condom while in use that way if you think it is breaking you can use another one. Other then that there is no other way.

Condoms break more often than you think. I couldnt tell it had broke, but he could. If you want to be safe, another method of birth controll is always good!! Nothing is fool proof against std's and pregnancy. In my opinion, you can never be to safe.

yea, you can tell when a condom breaks... there will be no question. You'll see meantime, it never hurts to use backup... like the pill or if not a morning after pill or th shot... whatever...

STD screenings are a good idea too in the case of the broken condom... just use your head.... <ahem>

Most condom breakage is the result of not using enough lubricant. Even if you think you are wet enough, you arn't . The condom must also be lubricated on the inside.

Lube Lube Lube and when youthink you have enough...LUBE some more! Nothing's scarier than pulling out & finding a shredded condom!

I definitely disagree. Me and my b/f were so into that neither one of us noticed. After we he had cum in me (a lot, I might add) he pulled out and to our suprise there was barely any condom left. (I did find some the next day in the restroom though...) Luckily I'm on the pill too though. I'm just saying that you don't always realize that it is broke until it is too late. That's what the pill is for.

let me get this straight... "to our surprise there was barely any condom left"" indicates that there was no doubt at that point that it had broken. Am I correct?

SO you may not realize it right then, BUT after the damage is already done, there IS no doubt about it. (I hate when people misunderstand what I'm saying...)

Sorry about that one... I just didn't catch what you were saying...

or if you don't want to go to the doctor and get birth control, tell your parents, etc (although you should be going to the gyn once you have sex), get foam or the little dissolvable inserts that are spermicides... right next to condoms at the drugstore usually and that would make it safer than just a condom.
