I'm wondering how many guys out there wear a condom for their own protection while giving anal. I'm not talking about protection from stds but if you are in a monogamous relationship do you wear one to protect yourself from the bacterial and stuff that are in your partners ass. I've done it both ways and haven't had any problems. Just wondering about the risks with maybe a UTI for the guy.

Thanks!

I think a condom and good quality lubricant should always be used during anal sex (this includes intercourse, toy use, and fingering). There are about one hundred trillion bacteria in the intestine. Most of them carry out various digestive and life sustaining functions, but others....well there not so nice. STD's are not the only thing you have to worry about with anal play. E-coli, and Salmonella can be found in the intestine and without wearing a condom you could be inviting them into your system.

Condoms protect you, but don't forget the lubrication. Without good quality lube you may inadvertantly abraise the lining of your partners intestinal wall. In other words, you rub your partner raw, which can cause bleeding which creates an opening for harmful bacteria to enter the blood stream....not good.

Hope this helps.

Most water based lubes aren't that useful for anal play. I think most prefer the silicone lubes. Maybe someone else will have more info for you.

Yes, we always use condoms for anal. UTIs and other infections from anal may not be that common for men, but we don't see a reason to risk them when condoms aren't any trouble really. Plus, they make for super easy cleanup! We'd much rather slip the condom off and throw it in the trash so we can cuddle sooner, than have to deal with washing up and using the bathroom.

We use ID Millennium silicone lube, but really, any silicone lube will do. KY isn't a sexual lubricant - it's intended for one-time insertion for medical procedures. And lubes like Astroglide aren't much better because they contain so much water and glycerine that they get sticky relatively quickly (plus, the glycerine can cause vaginal yeast infections since it's a sugar). Silicone lube is inert, hypoallergenic and lasts until it's washed off with soap and warm water (though if it's not, it's okay because it moisturizes and feels silky).

CLEAN UP.

I am a female and much prefer my man to use a condom. Otherwise....eew.

thanks very much

I'm going to get some of the Silicone stuff tomorrow. can't wait to try it out.

Thanks for all the info. I'll let you all know how it works out.

we had a small tube of the silicone stuff...man that worked wonders compaired to the KY

I have found that anal ease and a little silicon stuff with a condom works great. It numbs the area so you can enjoy it :)

i must be using a different silicone lube - i found it created more friction and didnt feel good at all

but i dont like the glycerine based ones either - too sticky

i found one a while ago based on kiwi fruit - that was really nice - the closest i've ever found to natural , but it only comes in the smallest bottle and we go through it too fast

It shouldn't have if it was pure silicone. Silicone by nature is super-slick, which is why it's often used to lubricate parts of heavy machinery. I'm not sure where you are, but in the US, a product only has to contain 10% of an ingredient to be labeled as such; so a lube or toy that only contains 10% silicone can be called "silicone lube" or a "silicone adult toy." That's also why we see things labeled "juice" when they really only contain 10 or 27% fruit juice.

Despite whatever the manufacture might claim, anal ease is not a good idea. It's nature's protection for things to hurt if you're doing something you shouldn't. Using anal ease increases your chance of damaging her body.

If you use lots of lube and let her push back on you, versus you pushing into her...that should reduce any pain.

oh yes and I'll put my vote in for always using a condom with anal.

I HATE CONDOMS. hell one of the reasons I got married was to not have to worry about needing to wrap my johnson.

never used a condom for anal, never had a problem. why ruin a good thing?

Also, i've never found silicone lube to be slick enough for anal. we use ky jelly to start and then add ky liquid to keep it slick.

hello

well i have done anal a few times without a condom and with a condom its much easier with the condom and faster clean up like everyone has said

I agree with the majority to use a condom. And try the silcone lube, after reading what everyone is saying I think I am going to also. aNyway good luck!

We don't use a silicone lube because they can't be used with silicone toys and we usually use toys first when we do anal. Astroglide gel in the tube instead of the bottle works well for us.

And to answer the question--we always use condoms for anal.

My wife and I have anal sex on a very regular basis, usually 4-5 times a week, I never wear a condom. I understand that there is some slight risk to me contracting a bladder infection, but I am always careful to pee when we are finished and usually go several more times before going to sleep. If you are sure your partner is safe, there's no need for a condom as long as certain precautions are taken. Unless one or both partners just prefer a condom.

Regarding lubes, we've used every lube under the sun and both agree astro-glide gel is teh best for anal sex.

safety issue with silicone

Was justing thinking.. how safe is it for a woman to use silicone lube? It's not really water soluabe and you have to use soap and water to wash it away. how safe is it up inside of a woman?

Silicone lube has been used on condoms for decades with no major ill-effects, so that should tell you something. Unlike many lubes, it doesn't have anything in it that bacteria can feed on, so it won't cause an overgrowth/infection. It's moisturizing and doesn't contain anything that can irritate, which is good for the skin/mucous membranes. I've had far fewer infections and problems with irritation since we switched from water-based several years ago. And, allergies to silicone are almost unheard of - food-grade silicone is used to lubricate most food producing/handling machinery.

There's also no link between the problems with leaking silicone breast implants and silicone lube. The problem with the implants was relatively large amounts of silicone got into the surrounding tissue and blood stream, making the body think it was under attack, and thus mount a defense. Lube doesn't enter the tissue or bloodstream under normal circumstances (i.e. when there's not a large tear), and even if some did get in through a tear in the skin, the amount of silicone that could get into the bloodstream is insignificant compared to what was going on with the implants.
