This is a thread essentially intended for braggaing about computer systems, so if you have any comments about that, fuck off.

I blew a CPU about two weeks ago (A DVD-ROM took it out. We still can't figure out why it happened, but it was, afterall, a bloody Dell system!), so I decided to put a system together myself.

Here are my new parts:

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 Processor 651 3.40GHz w/ 2MB Cache, Supports Intel® Extended Memory 64 Technology(Intel® EM64T), Supports Hyper-Threading Technology (HT Technology)

Motherboard: Asus P5N32-SLI Deluxe w/ DualDDR2, 7.1 Audio, Dual GB Lan, Dual PCI-E x16 SLI, Cool-Pipe LINK

Memory: I can't remember the exact name and brand, but I have 2 one GB DDR2 SDRAM's.

Hard Drive: Samsung 200GB SpinPoint P120 7200rpm SATA II w/ 8MB Cache

Video Card: eVGA e-GeForce 7600 GTS 256MB PCI-E w/ DVI, HDTV-Out LINK

Sounds Card: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS

Case: Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gamer Case LINK
I should probably take a picture of it. It looks much better when the machine is up and running.

I still need to a get a good keyboard and a mouse, and I might replace my monitor some time later. Oh, and these are my speakers.

No, I have a Dual Core on my laptop. I thought I'd go with a good single core for this one.

see much performance difference between the two?

I have no idea what any of this means.

I think the single core is better for more general applications. For some special and specific ones, though, the two cores can perform much faster. The problem is that there aren't that many applications and softwares that employ the Dual Core's features efficiently out yet.
