Mr Freakys mom is an airhead.. She was uninstalling a program (Mcafee) and instead of "uninstalling" it correctly.. she went into Windows and deleted it.

Now.. in the process of doing this she deleted a few files that were important to Windows.

She can no longer get into windows. She has the C: prompt in dos.. that's it.

How does she reinstall windows?

She did.. now, what does she type after the c: to get it to install, Smartass.

Lance.. you ass ;)

If you know how to go into Bios, have it boot from her CD-Rom.

I say format c: :)

Put the windows boot disk in the floppy drive..........

when you get the c prompt type "D:\"
type setup.........

this assumes the windows cd is in the d drive

Either press Delete or F1 or some other button just after your computer has started up, that'll get you into the bios, or 'setup' as it'll say to begin with.

then find the boot options, and make sure it looks at the CD drive before it looks at the HArd Drive

Well it's so fucked up it can't even find BIOS.

It won't let her reformat or re-install windows. NOTHING.

I told her to take it to someone who knows how to fix them.. (she wants me to do it, because I'll do it for free. The repair guy charges $70 an hour).

Does she have a windows boot disk?

If so, what happens when she boots using it......

If not, one can be made that will do the job from any PC running the same operating system, using that and then installing windows will fix most things.....

And given what you said caused the complaint a stuffed hard drive is extremely unlikely or one hell of a coincidence......
