Yesterday, I, somehow, managed to make the address bar on the top of my Explorer do Auto-hide. Well, it was a mistake to start with, but I managed to Undo Auto-hide by another mistake. Now, I don't know how to make the Address bar do Auto-hide. Can anyone help me to re-activate Auto-hide?

I'm not sure what yyou mean by setting the "address bar" toauto-hide. On my system, only the Windows status bar/start menu has an auto-hide function.

In IE5.5, the View menu has all the contorls for turning the various toolbars on and off, but there is not "auto-hide" function available there.

You can drag the vertical bar on any of the toolbars to position it so it compresses to a "continuation mark" at the right end of a row of toolbars.

What Windows version?

I'm running XP Home and do not think I have an auto hide option but I can lock tool bars to keep from accidently dragging the box to an invisble state??

Yeah, that's what I thought till yesterday.

What happened was, I was signing-in for my hotmail account; I began to type my use-name before page download was complete, then Ba-boom, my navigation bottuns and the likes were gone. I panicked and pointed the arrow at the top of the screen, and the bottuns reappeared. Strange...

Thanks for the help WH & RR, anyway.

That sounds like "full screen mode" -- try F11 and see if that's what it is.

In IE5.5 It doesn't erase everything, but it does hide the address bar, although it replaces everything with the "standard button" toolbar.

Woohoo! Thanks WH. Auto-hide is back!

P.S. You can put ''standard button'' tool bar on the address bar, so that ''full screen mode'' really is what it is.
