About two weeks ago I was looking at online news when I saw a story where a guy was complaining about the women who appear on shows like Overhauling and What's My Car Worth. I decided to do some research on these women. On Overhauling there have been 4 women that I know of. The first was Adrienne Janic aka AJ. She is an actress and a Ford (agency name) Model. She first appeared on Overhauling to play the pranks on the owners of the cars being overhauled. She was later asked to co-host the show but before she said yes she told them she was no mechanic. She told them not to make her pretend I know about cars. Over a 10 year period on Overhauling she asked the "A" team members questions that helped the audience to learn about cars just as she was learning. Chip Foose led AJ to to the design work and to lead the team on one car. It was a success.
Jessi Combs appeared for several episodes. She attended Wyotech to learn automotive fabrication and automotive collision repair. She has her own television show called "All Girl's Garage." the girls customize and repair cars. She drove the North American Eagle Supersonic Speed Challenger at Alvord desert. She broke the 48 year old record for the women's land speed record with a speed of 392.954 mph but also managed to get a speed of 440.709 mph.
Courtney Hansen is a fashion and fitness model. She writes a column for FHM and authored a book entitled " The Garage Girl's Guide to Everything You Need To Know About Your Car." Her father holds 27 SCCA national racing championships. Courtney hung out in the pits and the race track garage at the Brainerd Raceway which her father owned.
As you can see these women/girls are not lightweights when it comes to their knowledge about cars. The guy that made this ridiculous comment apparently did not do his research plus he appears to be a chauvinist.
