Over in the poetry feedback forum, they have a "New Poem Reviews" thread... Someone goes through the new poems for the day and comments on one or two or however many they felt were stand-outs... sometimes they make constructive criticism, too... Those who want to do a review choose a day, Mon-Sun, for a time period...

has this ever been done in the AH for stories? Granted, poems are shorter and easier to read... and I'm not suggesting someone sit and read every single story listed on a given day... sometimes it's hard to make it through the first paragraph... but maybe we can comment on those that day that don't make us back-click, that we DO make it through?

Or mention those that DO make us back-click and why?

Just a thought... anyone interested in participating in a "New Story Review" thread?

I think it would be awesome myself. I don't always have the time, but I'd be willing on those mornings that I do. On occasion I run across a few that are a "must read" that I want to share, and a few that are a "run as fast as you can" that I want to warn people about.

Awesome idea Selena :nana:

As you say, stories are much longer than poems, but I think it's quite feasible.

Sounds good. As long as I don't have to do any of the reviewing. I hate giving bad reviews.

Hrm... maybe if we can set up a schedule adn a certain number to do... like.. okay, Momday, Bob takes stories 1-20 and at least skims them over, Mary takes 20-40, Billy takes 40-60, and so on, so forth? Although I think realistically we'd have to have at least ten people a day dedicated to this, wouldn't we?

I can take Tuesday night/Wednesday morning... and I can handle about 20 to 30 scans a day.

Let's see how many people can donate their time...

any volenteer reviewers out there??

:cathappy:

I will. I'll try to adhere to a schedule. I'm unemployed currently, but I do have to get a job. I can't choose a specific day at the moment, but what I will do is take a gander at the list, choose a few to review and post here before I start so there isn't a doubling up. Would that work?

If enough people volunteer, I'd like to actually set up a schedule... avoids confusion... but if you can't commit to a day, you can always post to the thread with something that catches your eye... that's what they do over on the poetry boards, too... anyone can post with something they liked... but there is someone who always has that designated day, too... if that makes sense...

Yeah, it does lol.

So, if we really want to start... I can do the first ten on the new list right now. But I have to know to start now, because I only have a couple hours to kill before life revs back up.

Well, let's see if this actually flies... three of us do not a review team make... :D

If we can get more people interested...

or maybe it should just be "If you build it, they will come?"

I'm willing to give it a shot... if you have some time... maybe you could take a few after the first ten and do them? I'll go ahead and start the thread, and then add the first ten reviews to it.

Hey, maybe we can start a trend...

Hey, just for kicks and giggles, (and cause "Gay Male" strikes my fancy at the moment :D ), I read "An Unexpected Encounter" by SimonSays1.

Hot story. It's 2 Lit pages long, but worth the read, if you like gay male. It starts a little slow, but get through it, IMO you won't be sorry. :D

ETA: He doesn't accept public comments, but I did send him feedback.

hehehe... go read my review, lol

I went through and reviewed the ones that caught my fancy...

Let's see if this catches on...? :D

I think Selena's recipe is, IMHO, the best.

I never know at any given moments how many stories I could review so I wouldn't want to "set myself in stone" with a definite day but I'd be willing to review the ones that catch my fancy and post my finding in the appropriate thread.

I completely agree... I just do better if I put myself in review mode and pick a block of stories and read through... I read some that would have been back clicks for me or non-starters because of cat, and was shocked at how much I liked a few of them

I can do thursdays or fridays

sorry so slow in posting... my computer and I were having a discussion about when it is acceptable to download new virus software

Thanks, Lizzy!

who else?

Come on... if you check out my review from today you can see it's not that labor intensive. I linked to each story, and I notified the author via feedback that they'd been mentioned in the thread.... easy peasy... you don't have to mention EVERY story... just the ones that catch your eye...

I'd like to be involved but I'm not sure how many people would appreciate me doing this.

what's that supposed to mean, ya goofball?

Tell me which day and I'll put ya on board :D

I willing but time afflicted. Tell me how I can fit in, can review most mornings but not every week, if that makes sense.

Frankly Danielle I think anyone who get sa review by you will be flattered. You're a top notch author, with an incredible voice. Somem ay not like it, but anyone who is serious baout improving their craft will I can almost assure you.

That wasn't meant to be a play for compliments but gosh...thanks  .

I'm up for anyday any time, sigh I have no life. I do a lot of personal comments anyways so if you'd like I can do a couple stories everyday and keep the thread open and going.

If I could, I'd like to do some of the newer authors. Sometimes feedback if you don't have an established name is rough to get. And if some of the "newbies" saw their name in a thread, it might bring them into the forum as well and give them ideas where they can go if they need help.

And Colleen, that coming from you is an ultimate compliment. Your story, The Spy who wore petticoats was one of the best I've ever read and could be put up against most of the published erotica I've read.

Pick a day, pick a day!!! :D

If you can't do it that day, that's fine, you can always skip it or find someone to fill for you...

but it would be coolio if we could have one person set per day... and then we can trade/switch from there, if we need to...
