Comment lag

Thank you 😊

I ventured in there for the first time yesterday - not regular visitor. I generally stay in my own little pool, bad things happen in other pools 😬.

There are many pools here that are best to avoid. People stand around the edge and pee into them. 🫣

If it helps any, I have the same issue.

"Oh! New comment! Let me just ... um, hey, where'd it go???" 😢 😭

So....I see four more comments showed up on my page. They range from saying 60 minutes ago to 22 minutes ago. Like the first batch that caught my attention, one of them (34 minutes) shows on the story page, the other three do not, and the ones from yesterday still are not active.

I'm wondering once this gets fixed, if the old ones are just never going to show on the story itself.

So far, all comments that have been notified of have eventually turned up. Fingers crossed.

I have a huge amount of empathy for Manu, 'cuz I've been in his shoes. Those delays and mismatches between the various trackers y'all are talking about is an artifact of the site's features being spread around on multiple huge database servers. It's a big challenge to keep everything in sync; all it takes is one momentary outage on a really busy site like this to knock things out of wack. A complete re-sync could take hours if not days, and then be out-of-date by the time it's done.
What continues to surprise me is the number of people who have never noticed this. The site is never in sync with itself - some data only refreshes when you hit a page and the calculation gets done, other pages there's an obvious 24 hour lag, other pages who knows what the lag is.

The only true state that I can see is your Works page. I always see Comments there first, before they show up under the story itself, and the metadata there is always days ahead of anywhere else. Some data never ever catches up.

Laurel sent me a follow up message to say they fixed the issue...but it could take up to 72 hours for everything to reset across the board so there could still be some bumps in the meantime.

Someone has to take @onehitwanda’s place when she is busy seducing some red haired wench…
babe, we've talked about this. Redheads are like forest fires - absolutely beautiful in their own terrifying way. But this girl knows what's good for her and stays the hell away these days :ROFLMAO:
