Coming down from sub-high (subs only please)

My former used to crash hard at times. Basically, with her it took some time, and my reassurance to help her stabilize.

if she pops by, she can explain better than I...

I recently had this happen, and it was the most intense "drop" I've ever experienced. It was a rather rough scene (my roughest one to date) and I knew this Dom was in need of an attitude adjustment just as much as I was so it wasn't unexpected. However, the pain wasn't so much the issue as watching the bruising over the next few days and knowing that I had asked for this to happen. It was the first time I'd ever had pain and bruising to that extent but all I had to do was remember the pleasure associated with the scene and that soothed the rocky emotions I was having at the time.

Mmmm, I tend to love my bruises and things.

It's a good distraction when you're feeling meh, trying to take pictures of your own ass with a camera phone.

:D

LOL, I know what you mean, this Dom wanted pictures of his "work" and it's hard to take a picture of your own ass with a regular camera or a blackberry phone....LOL

All it takes is a bit of blutac to fix the camera to something, a timer, and some yoga. Easy!

heh

It might help. . .

I'm a newbie to being a sub, so I think what I say might sound naive. But anyhow, here goes: I think to deal with coming off a sub-high or feeling a subDrop, you can maybe refocus your mind on your Dom again. I mean if I were to experience a subDrop (which I haven't yet) I think if I thought about Him and the new experiences He's going to subject me to, I would be comforted. (When my day is particularly hard at work that's what I think of!) It seems like you do have things to look forward to, and that might cheer you up and/or provide some solace.

Hope this wasn't too Pollyannish!

interesting thread it appears that many experienced differences in sub drop. Many it has always been a change in brain chemistry the vast amounts of adrenaline and endorphins suddenly disappear leaving an empty feeling and often shudders. In the past I have dealt with it by drinking ginger tea and going for a walk or work out. But after a particularly heavy sessions where the shudders just wouldn't stop I spoke to my BDSM friendly doctor who suggested along with the ginger tea I eat cucumbers or watermelon to help balance out my body chemistry again.as I always have a cucumber in the house that's easy and I had some success with it it does seem to help although I still find getting active helps the most.

I don't have anything to contribute, but thanks for this thread. I have been experiencing the same thing and wasn't sure why or what it was all about. Reading some of the explanations and advice, as to how to combat the "drop" has been very informative and gives me a better understanding. Glad to know I am not the only one out there experiencing this. My Master is very understanding, but sometimes gets exasperated with me. Thanks for the help. :)

Thank you so much for sharing this. I am very curious if the watermelon and cucumber suggestions are because of the B vitamins in and calming effects of these foods? Did she tell you what it was about these foods would be helpful?

Anyone else out there have dietary suggestions like these? I know that minerals can be helpful for calming the system...particularly Magnesium. I am also wondering if those of you that have depression tendencies, have any of you used 5-HTP and therapeutic supplement doses of Omega 3, 6, & 9 after a session to help fuel your brain for a quicker recovery? I know that this combo is effective for easing anxiety and depression symptoms associated with acute emotional stress...just curious if anyone has tried it?

Still posting here because I'm not supposed to.

Back to the actual subject matter...

This may be a post for the mental health of subs thread, but I think this is worth bringing up here.

I am wondering if there is a relation to someone's depression and their sub-drop. I mean, if someone is more depressed at a particular time, will they be more prone to sub-drop or will it be more severe?

Knowing this might help curtail the issue.

Having dealt with depression myself, I am curious.
