Collateral (Open)

He watched her as he came. Her hot mouth moving as she swallowed with his girth still filling her mouth. She was becoming quite skilled, he thought to himself as she slowly drew her head back, taught lips slipping along his veiny shaft, ensuring every inch of him was clean. Her hand held the base as his head slipped free, and she deftly slid her tongue over the wide head, getting that last bit of his seed from him. She gently Nyla lowered his cock to rest on his thigh. Then sidled up to him

Her heavy chest swayed as she moved, rigid pink nipples swaying on her massive orbs as she felt his head

“Yes I do feel much better. In fact I think I need to get up and move around. I’ve become to stiff” he told her as he put one hand on her alabaster thigh

“ you’ve been able to round up anything?” He asked recalling she had mentioned something to that effect yesterday.

“I’m not sure how long we should stay. I need to get into town and talk to some friends of mine to see what’s going on. I don’t think the dust has settled from this yet. But I got a bad feeling about where the blame is gonna be” he told her as he slowly stood from the bed, his naked body lit by a beam of early morning sun light, purpled bruises stark on his pale frame, the sun casting stark shadows over his muscular form, his member, still glistening from her ministrations, swayed between his legs as he took a slow step towards the kitchen

Yes I do feel much better. In fact I think I need to get up and move around. I’ve become to stiff. you’ve been able to round up anything?

“Well, we don’t want you getting stiff, at least not everything getting stiff. I did find some wild onions and some mushrooms, and even some Pawpaws. I could really use some fresh vegetables, though like I said, this pantry is a lot better stocked than the one back home. Or rather, what used to be home. Dad usually had enough money to grab a bottle or two of cheap booze. Occasionally, there would be the odd meal of just rice. Or potato soup, made with one potato. If I can get some fresh stuff, I taught myself how to cook. But I know that we probably don’t have much money.”

His hand on her thigh made her heart beat faster and she wanted nothing more than to climb into bed with him. But she knew that there were things that they needed to do.

I’m not sure how long we should stay. I need to get into town and talk to some friends of mine to see what’s going on. I don’t think the dust has settled from this yet. But I got a bad feeling about where the blame is gonna be

She looked at his naked body as he took tentative steps in the morning sun. Her poor man, his body a roadmap of pain from the beating that he took. She could see his member swaying with each step as he headed towards the kitchen. She had definitely changed from the naive virgin that her Dad had turned over to Marcus. Now she was a woman, one that welcomed sex with her man.

“Let me slip some clothes on and I’ll heat up something for you to eat. You have to have food to get your strength back.” She walked over to where the bag was with the few clothes that she had grabbed when they quickly escaped. “I really need to wash some clothes.” She finally found a skirt and a thin blouse that would hopefully cover her body well enough. The skirt was a bit tight on her hips and the blouse was small around her breast. It was something that she had worn about 4 years ago, back before her breast had become “fully grown”.

He smile heard her enter the room behind him, he glanced back to see her wearing a tight cotton skirt that hugged her hips, and probably made her ass look great, he thought to himself. Then noticed just how tight the white blouse was, buttons seeming ready to bust if she took a deep breath

“Yeah. Anything would be great “ he told her as he slowly made his way to the bathroom. He relieved himself, and came back in

“Any idea where my clothes are” he asked her as he watched her working over the stove. He had to admit, she was a knockout, no idea how it had all come to this, but this was something

“I guess I can wonder around naked all day, it certainly makes some things easier” he told her as he stepped up behind her, looking over her shoulder to see what she was making for him

“But it does have its downside” he told her

She was trying to keep from busting out of her blouse as she headed for the kitchen.

When he went into the bathroom, she was already frying him some ham and added some onions and a few mushrooms for flavor. By the time that he got out of the bathroom, he was still wandering around naked. Even though his poor body was covered in bruises and bumps from the beating, he still carried himself as one sure of himself, his manhood starting to bob in front of him as if leading the way.

Any idea where my clothes are? I guess I can wonder around naked all day, it certainly makes some things easier.

There was a warmth from his body pressed up along her backside, with a definite poke on her bottom from his manhood.

But it does have its downside

“Yes. Especially when it comes to splattering grease. If we can get some eggs and milk, I could make you a better breakfast. Your clothes are hanging in the wardrobe. They should be dry by now. I couldn’t get all the blood out of your shirt, but I got most of it. And I repaired the rip that somebody’s knife made on one of its sleeves.”

She plated the food, such as it was, in two plates, giving him the bigger portion.

“I also stole some of Dad’s clothes, though they would probably fit me better than you. You have a better body than he ever had. But you can try them if you want. He called them his gaming clothes.”

She placed the two plates on the table. “This was all that was left of the ham but maybe I could see what they have at the store. Sit down and eat before it gets cold.”

She was a bit nervous, wishing that she had some potatoes to cook with it.

He smiled, watching her move around the kitchen ,she was quick and efficient but you could see she was disappointed she didn't have more

His eyes followed her as she got the plates together

" This is fine don't worry so much" he said as he headed for the clothes. He rummaged through a pile of the clothes she had mentioned. He got the pants he wore, then found the bag of her dads closed, wrestling a shirt on

It was tight, but it covered him. He headed back into the kitchen then took a seat at the table, diving into the food

"I think today we can make a run for food, then decide if we are good enough to swing into town, I got a cash pile stashed, and can chat up one of my friends" he said through bites

Marcus showed a healthy appetite as he ate the ham that she had cooked.

I think today we can make a run for food, then decide if we are good enough to swing into town, I got a cash pile stashed, and can chat up one of my friends

She worried about going back to town.

“How do you know that you can trust your friends? They might turn us over to Janice just for the money.”

She was worried. He couldn’t take another beating like the one that he had just gone through.

*****

Janice stood looking at the sniveling piece of trash on the floor before her.

“How did my men wind up dead in your house here? Somehow I can’t see you able to do that much less throw up on them.” She sneered at the the man crying.

“I didn’t. It was that man that I gave her to. My daughter. She was my collateral. Instead, he turned her against me and fucked her.”

“Who?”

“Sh...Shannon.” Lance hiccuped and then farted. Janice stepped back away from the stench.

“YOU IDIOT! WHO DID YOU GIVE HER TO?” Janice was getting madder by the minute.

“Marcus! I gave her to Marcus.”

A smile curled up Janice’s lip. Maybe the slut would come back to attend dear Daddy’s funeral. She nodded at the man and turned to leave. The sound of Lance’s pleas for mercy were drowned out by a gurgling sound as the man slit Lance’s throat.

Back outside the small shack, Janice climbed in the car. “Take me home.”

He was able to walk better after eating. And as he finished getting dressed he felt a little more limber

“Let’s head into town and see what we can get some food , but first we need to grab some money” he said as he looked over at her. The tight blouse, buttons ready to burst and skirt pulled tight over her round ass

“And maybe some clothes too” he sis swing a grin a she grabbed the keys and headed to the car

She was relieved to see that he moved better than the day before. The man had taken a beating yesterday and in a lesser man, he would not have bounced back as quick.

Sitting beside him in the car on the way back to town, she was nervous. In the back of her brain, a small voice screamed “run away!” Yet she kept quiet. Marcus was in charge and whatever he said went. She was curious as to how much money her father had gotten for selling them out. It had to be him. Otherwise, Janice would not have any idea as to where they had been hiding.

Still, she was nervous. She slowly took a deep breath. Last thing that she wanted to do was pop a button.

The drive back into town was a slow winding ride. Nothing like the ride they had taken out of town. And it wasn’t long before he pulled up outside of the laundry they had visited earlier. He looked up and down the street, not seeing anyone standing around

“Alright. I think we are good. Let’s go in and see a friend” he told her with a smile before h stepped out

Minutes later they were following Toni back into the lines of hanging clothes. He had nodded at lance as soon as he walked in the door. And not said a word.

They opened a small door half hidden by clothes. And he closed it behind his gal

“Dude what the fuck have you been up to?!?” He asked as he looked them over

“The word on the street is that you are a wanted man

“ thanks Toni look. I’m here to grab my stash and maybe some clothes. You got something here for rose? Maybe she can try it on while I go get my stash?” He asked tony, but winked at rose. He stepped closer to her, giving her a kiss on the cheek as he said in a whisper

“He’s harmless. Give him a little show and maybe tease him a bit. I don’t want him thinking about why I’m taking so long. This will be a couple of minutes”

Then he headed out another door

“Toni looked her over and then grabbed a shirt from a rack

“Something like this. All these are clothes never claimed. Look around and try some on” he said as he took a seat

“I can help if you need”

There was a knot in the pit of her stomach as they headed back into town. She wanted to tell him to turn the car around, drive as far away as possible. She was instead silent.

The building looked familiar. Stepping inside she remembered the man. The clothes. Her first stop in the hands of Marcus. Things were so different now. Before she had been collateral. Not any more. Now she was his woman. He was her man.

They were taken through a series of rooms and doors until the man turned around and spoke.

”Dude what the fuck have you been up to?!? The word on the street is that you are a wanted man”

“ thanks Toni look. I’m here to grab my stash and maybe some clothes. You got something here for rose? Maybe she can try it on while I go get my stash?”

Marcus leaned into her, hiding his pain from the beating well. He kissed her on the cheek. His voice low in her ear.

He’s harmless. Give him a little show and maybe tease him a bit. I don’t want him thinking about why I’m taking so long. This will be a couple of minutes

She watched Marcus leave her with the man. This was her job - it was an important one though she wasn’t quite sure just how far to go with this.

The man, Toni, took a shirt off the rack. A shirt!

Something like this. All these are clothes never claimed. Look around and try some on. I can help if you need

She looked at the shirt that he held. “Well, I could really use a new dress. This one really is a bit too small for me.” She took a deep breath and the button holding a portion of her blouse together popped loose. Shannon looked properly embarrassed as her breast tried to crowd out of the top.

“Oh! I am so sorry. I think that this top fit me several years ago before I had a growing spurt.” She had noted how Toni’s eyes had immediately focused on her cleavage before she turned and looked through the unclaimed clothes on the rack. She could almost feel his eyes take in the tight skirt that hugged her ass, and remembering Marcus’ words, moved it slowly for the man.

She found several dresses that might work for her and thought to try them on. “Is it alright if I see if these fit?” The man nodded and grinned and when she turned to survey the room, she saw the reason for his grin. There was no changing room.

“Oh!” Looking around, she turned to the man. “Oh, well, I can trust you, right? What if I just go over in this corner and you look the other direction. Would that be okay?” Toni nodded and she headed to the corner of the small room. Of course, she knew that the man would peek but the most that he would probably see would be her ass, but she had had worse.

Slipping out of her clothes, she pretended to glance back at him. “You’re not looking, are you?” To which he assured her he was not.

She finally settled on two dresses, on for every day and one for a bit fancier. From the way that her cleavage showed in both, she knew that they should be fine with Marcus. He also let her pick a simple skirt and blouse which she thought would be good when Marcus didn’t want her to stand out. Her hair was still a big red flag, but Toni gave her a scarf that she could wear over her hair if needed.

She decided to leave the shop with the plain outfit on so that they would not be noticed.

There it was, he smiled as he found the bag in the ceiling panel. Then he hopped down and ran back to the room. He cracked open the door, looking in onnShannon, seeing her driving Toni crazy. He slipped down a different aisle and made his way to the from fo the store. But before he got to the door. He heard the chimes of the door. Leaking around a suit rack he saw Janice and her thugs

“Shit!” He cussed under his breath.

He quickly disappears and stepped into the little break room

“You mother fucker!” He growled as he strode up to Toni and grabbed him by the collar, shoving him to the wall

“You Fucking rat!!”

She had no sooner dressed in the plain outfit than Marcus burst through the door and grabbed the man by the collar, throwing him up against the wall.

You mother fucker! You ducking rat!!

She was confused. She knew that sometimes he put on an act so that people thought that they were getting away with something. But this felt different. Something had to be wrong. Had this Toni stolen the money that they were here to collect?

“What is it, Marcus? What did he do?” Something told her to be aware, and subconsciously she glanced around, worried.

His body screamed at him as he held Toni there. The pain flaring dangerously high, enough to put some spots in his vision. And Toni was a friend. Or had been

“How did they know to find me here. Why is Janice here” he said as he let go of Toni

“Are you ready to go?” He asked Shannon, then turned back to Toni

“Stall em” he said as he grabbed Shannon and led her to another door. They circled around through the clothes to a hidden place where they could hear what was going on at the front desk. Toni likely thought he left. But he needed to know how things stood in the neighborhood

When she heard the name ‘Janice’, she felt fear flare within her. That woman was no good, and nothing good would ever come from her.

Are you ready to go?

She nodded as he grabbed her free hand, the other one clutching the clothes.

Following his lead, they circled back around, hiding behind several boxes and a couple of hampers of clothes. She was glad that Marcus seemed to know what to do.

Janice and three of her men kicked in the door to the room where they had just been. She could hear what was said but couldn’t see anything.

“You gave the signal that they were here.”

“Y-Y-Yes ma’am. They needed clothes. D-D-Didn’t stay long.” Toni sounded nervous.

“I see that the slut did a strip tease for you. Kept you busy while Marcus did what?”

“I don’t know.”

She could hear the sound of several strong slaps. Probably knocking around Toni.

Janice spoke again, cool and deadly.

“I’ll ask you again. What did Marcus do? Answer me this time or you won’t like the consequences.”

There was a bit of hesitation and then Toni’s answer sounded somewhat slurred, as if maybe his lip was swollen.

“All I know is he left the room for a minute. Came back, grabbed the peach and ran.”

One of the men spoke up. “Is the peach a real redhead?”

Toni seemed to perk up a bit. “I only saw those big tits. And her freckled ass. She kept her back to me most of the time.”

Janice was cold. “Then Toni, you lied. Marcus was gone longer than a minute.”

There was a brief pause and then 3 shots. Shannon started but stayed silent. She could hear them leave, walking past where she and Marcus hid as they left the shop.

Now what should they do?

His heart was pounding. This was bad. This was very bad

He was glad that Shannon had stayed quiet, but Janice was off her rocker if she was going around killing people!!!

The worst was that he knew her father wouldn’t do anything. She had gone crazy, and he had gone to far using her like he had, and now she wanted him dead. He was a dead man

“Let’s lay low here for awhile. They’ll know my car and figure I left on foot. They’ll drive around a bit and double back. It won’t be safe to leave until after night. And my car isn’t an option anymore” he told her quietly

“They’ll also send someone through here soon. So we need to get to the roof. We can hop a few buildings and get away far enough that we can hide the rest of the day” he told her with half a mind, the other half was trying to figure out what to do. What to do...

Let’s lay low here for awhile. They’ll know my car and figure I left on foot. They’ll drive around a bit and double back. It won’t be safe to leave until after night. She nodded and tried to think. If they were gonna be jumping around, she didn’t want to lose what she had just obtained. Looking around, she finally found a bag where she could stuff some things in. She quickly grabbed a shirt for Marcus and a pair of pants and tightly rolled it up and put it in the bag along with her two dresses.

Turning to Marcus, she asked if there was a kitchen. He showed the way and she looked around, grabbing a few cans of food.

“He’s not gonna use it. We can throw it over to the next roof,” she told him before she told him. “I’m ready.”

As they headed for the roof, she noticed a morning paper and stuffed it in the bag too. Maybe they could find out what was happening. There might be some word about those 3 guys that Marcus had to fight off.

He had to smile at her resourcefulness. They were gonna need it now that he had lost the car. Of course they cold double back for it in the middle of the night. They just needed to find somewhere to lay low, and of course they had to be anywhere but here

“Good thinking” he told her as he led her towards the back where they found the small stairwell, quickly and quietly they climbed up and out into the roof, looking over either side he saw it was almost a 5 foot drop. Piece of cake

The two hopped down and crossed over several roofs. Checking the access doors and finding they locked from the inside on each roof. Finally they came to the end of the block, still locked out, one side had a fire escape

“Let’s stay up here awhile. Keep an eye on the door over there and if someone comes out way we can go down the fire escape”

She felt a bit of pride when Marcus congratulated her ingeniousness. She felt smarter with the man. All her Dad had ever told her was to shut up and cook supper. Shut up and bring him a beer. Shut up and clean the house.

He helped her up on the roof. She was glad that she had changed clothes cause her old clothes would have ripped as they hopped across from roof to roof. They finally reached the end of the block. Each door that they tried was locked and she waited to see what to do next. All she knew was that they were in big trouble.

Let’s stay up here awhile. Keep an eye on the door over there and if someone comes out way we can go down the fire escape

Nodding, she sat down, leaning with her back against the side of the building so that she had a clear view of the door. She reached in the bag and pulled out the newspaper. A quick glance told her that it was today’s paper.

She opened it and a quick scan of the headlines made her blood run cold.

THREE FOUND DEAD

Last night, police responded to a house on Bleaker Street and found three dead bodies. The caller was anonymous and informed the police that they would find something interesting at 332 Bleaker Street. Inside was a gory sight. There were signs of a struggle and three dead men.

Those dead were Tony deMarco, 37, Johnny deMarco, 34, and Lance Harris, 48. Police say that both of the deMarco’s appear to have been beaten to death and Mr. Harris appeared to have been tortured before his throat was slit.

The house is the residence of Mr. Harris and his daughter, Shannon. Police are searching for the girl for questioning.

She paled as she lowered the paper. “Oh my God!” Her voice was quiet and stunned. Janice must have killed her Dad. He wasn’t the best Dad, but he was the only one that she had had.

“Marcus, they killed my Dad.” She didn’t scream or cry, instead she just sat there in shock, staring at the door that she was to watch.

He saw the look come over her face as she read. Then she told him what it said, but her voice. Her voice was distant, like she was down in a well. Then she just sat there, staring off across the roof

He sat down beside her, putting an arm around her shoulder and pulling her close

“I’m sorry Shannon. I know he might not have been the best. Buts it’s what you had. I hope they made a quick end for him, but we won’t make a quick end for them when we do get them” he told her as he glanced up at the door that led down to the laundry shop.

Luckily he did. Just then the door opened and he froze. They were 3 roofs say and sitting along the edge. They might be over looked but if they did spot then, it was going to be a crazy dash through the streets. And all the running they had done had his side on fire, every breath burned.

He watched as the man wandered around the rooftop. Looking over the sides, then he went back into the door and disappeared

He let out a long breath he hadn’t realized he was holding

His eyes turned back to the vibrant red hair that hung over his arm. Her breathing had been deep and fast but was now slowing,

“I think we are stuck here for awhile. Let’s find some shade” he told her as he looked around, finding a dark nook where a large vent stack cast a long shadow

“We can’t have you getting a sunburn up here” he toldnher as he took her bag, and set it down for her to sit in. Then he stood up, positioned himself so he could see the rooftops they had crossed, making sure they weren’t gonna get suprised.

He reached down and let his hands softly stroke her hair.

It didn’t seem possible. He was dead. So many times he had treated her like shit, had used her mom and then her as collateral to cover his gambling debts. So many times she had gone without a meal because he had used their money on drink. Marcus’ arm around her was a comfort.

Suddenly, the door that she was to watch opened and one of Janice’s men appeared. She didn’t realize that she was breathing fast. All she could think was that if that man should see them, they would have to make a mad climb down to the street and try to outrun them. Not good. She stayed perfectly still, afraid to move. When the man finally went inside, she realized that her heart was pounding incredibly fast

I think we are stuck here for awhile. Let’s find some shade. We can’t have you getting a sunburn up here

He soon had her sitting in a shady spot, for which she was grateful. She hadn’t realized that she was getting hot. The afternoon was wearing on and eventually it would be evening. Darkness. Maybe then they could make a getaway. Between the police looking for her and Janice and her goons looking for them both, they could only hope to get away. She wanted to ask what the plan was, but instead she kept her mouth shut. Best to leave the planning to him.

The way that he stroked her hair was calming. How strange that was. Once he was her captor, she his captive. Just collateral for monies due. Yet now they were lovers, or even partners.

Somehow she couldn’t cry for dad. But she did say a little prayer. She leaned against Marcus’ leg, wishing they were back in the cabin, their bodies together, arms and legs intertwined.

They had settled into the corner of the rooftop. Then he saw the door of the closest roof open up, and one of Janice’s thugs was looking around.

“Shit” he whispered, glancing at the rails he had positioned them by

“We are gonna have to go down the fire escape into the alley. Hopefully they don’t have anyone down there” he told her as he leaned back and loooked over the edge. He couldn’t see anyone

He slowly and quietly helped her to her feet, keeping her in the shadow of the stack. When the guy began to look the other way he motioned for her to go

Soon he was behind her and they were quickly pounding down the stairs. Halfway down there was a shout from above then

“Hey. Stop” the man called, then he began to follow after them fast

“You keep going. I’ll be right behind you. I need to take care of this guy first” Marcus said, then he ducked back off a side, hiding underneath the stairs, pulling himself up, so that he was secreted in the steps above

The mans ran down quickly, passinder him. As he did, he swung down and kicked him. The powerful kick sent him flying off the stairs. His yell stopped short by a sickening crunch

He caught Shannon at the bottom of the steps, and grabbed her hand, stepping over the corpse they ran!!

2 streets over an d half a block down, he spotted a low window cracked open in an alley

“Let’s hide in there” he told her, his side was a throbbing ball of pain, and he had to rest. He pulled her to a stop under the window and lifted her up, as she worked her way in he heard cars racing by. He quickly jumped up, and pulled himself in after her.

Shit

That could only mean trouble. She glanced up and saw one of the thugs a rooftop closer to where they hid.

We are gonna have to go down the fire escape into the alley. Hopefully they don’t have anyone down there

His words were quiet yet terse and her heart started thumping faster. He took a glance over the side down to the street. With a quick nod he slowly helped her to her feet and soon they were quickly climbing down to the street. She was almost there when some guy started yelling at them.

Following Marcus’ instructions, she took off running once on solid ground. She could hear some kind of scuffle and slowed down long enough to see some guy crumpled on the ground. She noted Marcus grimace in pain and worried but he grabbed her hand and they took off running down the street through crowds of people.

It was late in the day. Maybe around 6:00pm if she had to guess. People heading home for the night, or out for dinner and a movie.

Suddenly, he was dragging her down an alley full of boxes and trash bins. She saw the half open window just a few seconds after him and as he tried to pull her towards it, she knew what his thoughts were while he helped her up through the window.

She had heard his grunt of pain as he helped her inside and she turned to steady his climb inside. He closed the window behind him, cutting off the sounds of outside.

Once inside, she looked around. It looked like it was a ladies restroom so she put her ear up against to listened. It was all quiet on the other side and since it would look strange for Marcus to look out of a ladies bathroom, she took it upon herself to do it.

The place was eerily quiet. Something told her that she was safer here than Marcus here.

“Stay here a minute. I think that I know where I am.” She whispered to him to stay still as she slipped through the opening.

There was an odor of machine oil and fabric dyes that mixed with the smell of dust. She tiptoed down a hall, passing an open door that looked like it led into a break room with a couch and refrigerator and sink.

Once she turned the corner, she saw that she was in a sweatshop. Oh, nothing like the Triangle Waist Factory but rather some small shop that was trying to give decent work hours. Otherwise, the machines would still be going and there would be women all over the place. She had known a woman that worked here - Donna Lacy - though she had lost contact with the woman.

She paused and listened, but heard nothing. It sounded all quiet save for the honking of the car horns and sirens of ambulances and police cars outside the closed windows.

Quietly, she hurried back to where Marcus waited in the ladies bathroom. He looked pale and she crossed to him and said, “I think that we’re safe for the night. It’s a dress factory and there is a couch where you can lay down. I couldn’t hear a watchman but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t one.”

He felt his body begin to shake as soon as she had left. He hadn’t pushed himself that hard. But it was clear he was still more injured from that night than he had thought.

He let himself sink down and sit on top of the toilet while he waited

It seemed like an hour before she returned. His breathing had finally slowed down, which made the pain in his side almost manageable

“Do they have a watchman, or do you think they’d leave a dog loose to watch the place?” He asked as he hobbled out of the ladies room, leaning on her as the ribs began to throb again

She could tell that he was in pain. They really should not have come back to town. As he leaned on her, she led him to the break room and sat him on the sofa. There was a fine sweat on his forehead and she ran over and grabbed a towel, wetting it under the cold water coming out of the faucet.

“Not for sure about the guard as that open window in the bathroom should be one of the first things that he would catch. They wouldn’t let a dog loose. He could chew up or piss on the fabrics. A guard with a dog? Maybe. But that’s gonna cost money and these people don’t appear to be rolling in the dough. I glanced at what they’re making and it’s everyday dresses for the common poor. No silks and satins but cottons.”

She watched him lean back against the back of the couch, sitting beside him as she wiped the cool wet towel on his face.

“Marcus, I probably need to rewrap your ribs. We need to get back to the cabin if we can. You need rest. All this running and jumping and lifting and fighting isn’t good for you. I think that you have several broken ribs and you don’t want them to puncture your insides.”

She was worried about him.

“I don’t think that they have a guard but we’ll take care anyway.” She stroked his forehead. “You see if you can get a bit of rest. I’ll keep lookout.”

He smiled as she set him down, the smile turning to a wince

“I’m sure I’m fine “he groaned his eyes roaming the dark racks. There were stacks of bolts of clothes on every side of the wide room, the center was filled with neat rows of stitching stations. This was his first time in a place like this. His mind scanning the possible places a guard should be. But she was right, that window being left open was damn sloppy work if there was one

He sat up as his rose began to walk away, and he peeled the shirt off his chest, his bruise was purple and angry, and he could almost feel the bones grind as he breathed

“Be smart. Be safe” he told her as he watched her swaying hips move into the darkness, on her way to find something to wrap his ribs up with
