Ah well, there are trolls, players, and the real deals on every site. It's just a matter of learning who, what, and where and realizing the BS for what it is, and learning from, and appreciating, the realistic and helpful words of others. I have learned a lot from this site as well as CM and I'm very grateful for that. Knowledge and understanding, as well as making friends, can come from all kinds of different places. Diversity can be a good thing.

I browse and post on CM occasionally, and have gotten some good ideas from some of the more knowledgeable/experienced members there.

I don't think it's a bad place by any stretch of the imagination, and there's certainly a lot of good info there, but when I've asked questions a time or two, I've received many unhelpful responses (e.g. "Everyone is different, so the answers are going to vary based on the individual." ).

I don't care for the egos and know-it-all-ism some of the regulars there display, and the one who smugly posts a gazillion links without adding anything to the discussion irritates me. Here it seems we try to point people in the direction of the helpful threads with a "welcome" and invitation for more conversation, rather than making them feel like complete idiots for not coming up with novel topics.

Even though there can be some cliquishness and cattiness here, Lit just has a unique, much more friendly, approachable atmosphere that keeps me coming back and letting people know about it.

I have a profile up there and I like their personals more than the ones here. However as for the boards I much prefer the lit boards. All I do is lurk on the CM boards. I find the information here much more helpful and the level of reality here seems much firmer.

Of course with only a little over 100posts in 4 years hear I am not sure I qualify as much more than a lurker here , but I have learned a lot from reading even if I do not often have something I think will add to the conversation.
