Coffee & Nylons

Good afternoon, lovely @Cat.

It's almost my bedtime but wanted to respond to this. Being in bed (it's finally cold enough to use the Winter blanket) with my book and some green tea at the moment. Journaling and reflecting on my PB this morning in the half marathon.

Enjoy the rest of your day and make sure you rest up for Monday. New coffee for my Monday tomorrow so I'm excited to show you. ❤️😘

A PB in your half marathon, today?

Congratulations!! 🥳
That medal is really pretty.

The weather up here is very summer; hot, humid and heavy.

Which means that cooking feels kinda uncomfortable, so I am taking the easy solution today.
(Also, cleaning is exhausting 😅)

Good morning from up here in North 🌞

We are looking at potentially heatwave, well.. There is not really anything I can do about that.

Breaking the fast is still needed, the gym is still waiting, and mount Laundry still needs conquering. 🌻

How are your legs today?

Good morning to you, beautiful @Cat!

Hazelnut and orange cake notes in my Goldilocks latté today. Apologies for the sub par latté art today. I oversteamed the milk. 😂 Legs have made a decent recovery. I'd say they're around 70%. The massage gun last night definitely worked wonders.

Gorgeous pedicure BTW, that's definitely made my day so far! I'd never get any work done if I woke up next to that. 😅 All the best with Mt. Laundry and I'll send you some updates from bouldering later. 😊 I'll be taking it easy.

At this point everyone in the North right now should probably be looking at ice lattés and iced teas for the heatwave. I've got a few beverage ideas to share if anyone is keen. One of them does require a steam wand though. 😅

@RDM97756 @humanmale ever try one of the below? I can highly recommend an aerocano.

I'm not much of a cold coffee drinker, but I'm married to a iced latte devotee. She's gonna love these 👍

I'm actually very boring and conservative. I buy one favorite coffee blend, have two cups (not mugs like the rest of Scandinavia) maximum and only in the morning. I'll occasionally order a breakfast macchiato or late night espresso if I'm feeling fancy.

I used to drink a lot of coffee though. Loved my morning espresso, always made French press or pour over with a thermometer and a stopwatch and I could drink coffee whenever I wanted. Great times. Sadly my brain and nervous system didn't think so 🙃

I can't have sugar anymore, and iced tea is bland without a bit of sugar, so that's one thing less I can enjoy.

Well... I actually only drink one espresso in the morning.
For my health! 😅 - It works wonders on my digestive system. And as that is something that bothers me a lot.. then one espresso in the morning it is.

Have you tried Hyben te? Hibiscus tea, Perch's tehandel got a really, really nice one.
No sugar needed, it is also fresh, tart, and wonderful when chilled.

Other than that..I drink chilled genmaicha. Again one of those teas that tastes better without sugar.

🥰

Today, I did conquer Mt. Laundry! I very obviously broke my fast. And, I did enjoy some time in the gym followed by a decent sauna.

Yes, back to the gym and bike after my Dixie trip....

Sure, I have tried Perch's tea. It's really good. But I usually go for the White Tea when I'm in Perchs. Again – I really AM boring and conservative

Great job! And it sure looks like a good workout. You look great (y)

What's your favourite coffee blend? I'm actually quite curious to know. Haha. I think you and I are the same. Any more than two and I get the jitters.

Coffee is a nice treat but like @Cat, I also enjoy a nice cup for tea. For me it's gyokuro, sencha and the occasional genmaicha. I have an idea. Perhaps I should do some calligraphy that aligns with whatever coffee or tea I'm drinking on that day. I think that'll be a nice creative project. 😍

Yeah, it's probably for the best to scale back coffee consumption. I dunno how I used to drink 4 cups of coffee a day when I was working as a barista. Probably desensitisation. Friend is bringing back some good quality pourover beans from New York so can't wait to show you.

I can't have sugar anymore, and iced tea is bland without a bit of sugar, so that's one thing less I can enjoy.
You can't have sugar anymore? Oh gosh. Is this for dietary reasons? Sugar is pretty much my only vice these days haha. Keeps me sane. 😅

That sounds like a fun framework for creative projects! Great idea!

I just buy the local supermarket blend. It's been around in DK since the 60's. It's called "Brown Circle Coffee" (No, don't laugh at that! That's childish 😄).
It's mostly South American arabica, medium roast, made on a Moccamaster. Nice acidity and a very subtle but lingering bitterness. The flavour's been consistent for years now, and it reminds me of my first taste of coffee. That's probably why I prefer this brand.

Personally, I need to keep my caffeine intake to a minimum, but if people aren't affected by 4+ cups a day, it's probably fine. I think I just revved my brain and stayed in the red for too long 😄

I love your posts, so I look forward to see what you share about the NY pourover.

Actually more like with coffee☝️ I needed a break from sugar too. Coffee+sugar is like a Speed Ball to me. I tried "just on weekends", but I just couldn't handle it 😄

But I'm not being a zealot.

If people can handle caffeine and sugar, more to you! I just got too fat and too much of an a*hole. I had to modify a few things to get my life back on track 👍

I'll look it up. Coffee consistency and nostalgia seem to be an important aspect of why people go back to certain coffees. As much as I dislike Starbucks, it's pretty special that they can get their roast profile and sourcing so consistent that it's uniform all around the world. Maybe I'll try some when I'm there and let you know what I think. 😅

I am not sure being on 4+ cups consistently is good for your heart or homeostasis in general haha. Your approach is much more sensible.

Yeah, he's coming back on the 7th of July so I'm looking forward to sharing some excellent V60 cupping content then. 😊

That's fair enough. It's important to know your limits and know what too much caffeine and/or sugar is doing to you. Kudos for looking out for yourself.

Good morning, @Cat. Hope you slept well despite the heat and everything. In the office today but unfortunately the roast was too dark. Not a fan of it. Tasted of burnt chocolate and a hint of cherry. At least the latté art turn out lovely. 😘 Have a wonderful day. What's for breakfast today?

It is hot... I do not want to wear clothes.. I do not want to eat real food.. I just want ice-cream.

🙈

Well I had tiramisu gelato earlier so I have the coffee tie-in as well for the thread hehe. I wish I could share some with you, beautiful one. How was your espresso today? Do you ever have it iced or make cold brews? Might be a good idea for the heatwave. ❤️

Also is it strange I wanna make cold brew in the middle of winter? Hehe. I guess I miss the taste.

Good morning! An overcast day (14° C) in Sydney today but at least it's not raining. Thinking about the North and everyone over there experiencing a heatwave right now. Here's to a cool change on Monday. Hang in there, friends. Just enjoying some avocado toast; pretty sure these are from California (too cold to ripen avo in Aus).

.. do you happen to have more gelato? 🤞🏻

Someone might have done something to the weather, I think we might have gotten your usual summer weather.
Please take it back? 🙏🏻

37°.. without adjusting for the radiation from the asphalt and buildings.

It was fun to try warm weather, but I do not think I like it.

So, no coffee. Nylons would be torture in this weather.
Just some tired legs after a long day.

Short weather update from the Nordic.. Southern hemisphere, would you please take this heat back?

IMG_8911.jpeg

I mean.. It does give us some insanely beautiful thunderstorms.

IMG_8912.jpeg

But... I want my normal summer temperatures back.

S'il vous plaît.

Apologies. It seems like the weather distribution system has mistakenly given Scandinavia the Australian Summer... A Summer that you're more accustomed to should resume shortly. 🤞

PS: What an epic thunderstorm. Takes my breath away...

Good morning, friends! Today I had more free time in the morning before my meetings so I decided to make the filter that came with my magazine (Standart). I think it's an excellent publication and a good value for money as I've sampled a lot of delicious coffees via this subscription and this Colombia Imbachi Reserve is no exception!

1782789006393.jpeg

I used a V60 and brewed for 3:20 to 3:40 minutes. The recipe calls for 17g in and 250ml (+/- 1 mil 😂) out. Four pours: 50,50,50,100. The finished beanjuice tastes of apricots, honey oats and malt. Quite delicious for an overcast day. Hope your day is off to a good start. ❤️
