Coffee fetish.

What is it about coffee in the morning?

Is it because it's a habit to sit with my cup at the keyboard?

Is it the taste?

Is it the warmth of the drink?

Do I really get a jolt from caffeine? I read something about how it takes hours for that to really infiltrate your system.

Why do I feel more complete in the morning after just a cup?

Thoughts? And another cup?

Maybe its all of them. Now that I'm thinking about it... I'm confused too.

I've only just discovered the joys of a cup of coffee in the morning (about 2 weeks ago).

The reason its so soothing for me is the sheer strength of taste, it really sets me up for the day.

Of course I agree with the rest...but let me add drinking a nice cup of coffee whilst digesting the days paper. Heaven!

Have more coffee.

Thank you... (We're trying to think it over a coffee)

Maybe it's the taste...
Or the habit.

And we're back to square one.

Me? I'm a major creature of habit.

Coffee's part of my morning. Going through the motions of preparing it and drinking it is a ritual that starts my brain working.

As well as it ever works. ;)

I'm outta things to dunk in my coffee.

Guess I should move on to something else.

;)

I've got something that will add a special flavour to it.

Well there is an other Coffee thread ;)
But you take my Coffee away & find out how grumby I can get :)

I like the warmth and I like the comfort it provides in the habit.
I have been drinking coffee since I was in the 4th grade I hated it then, but the routine has stuck with me. Now I have two almost three years of Barista work behind me and I am a connoisseur of coffee and a bit of a snob about it.

Coffee is just more socially acceptable at six in the morning than a beer for some reason....

I'm a 4 cups a day guy.

But they're pretty small cups, so I get a constant caffeine buzz, but no OD.

Kenyan arabica, dark roast, prezzo ground.

Naaah, I'm not obsessed, honest: Kink in Your Coffee Pt. 01, Kink in Your Coffee Pt. 02, A full coffee cup, Café au lait Casanova, Café au lait Casanova 2, Coffee is different, Coffee Code, Java Vamp, and Quick Brew .

Mornings without coffee are days that seem off until I get a dose. I prefer a French-pressed cup of coffee or an iced latte on the way home from work. I do limit myself though, 2 cups (big cups) then switch to green tea. I run on caffeine.

I don't mind a drip-brewed cup
but whoever first joined pot to hot-plate
deserves the punishment--
let it fit the crime!--
of being slowly boiled to death.

That said, I bow down to your caffeinated poetry, neonurotic. Inspiring stuff for a fellow addict.

If anyone deserves the household recipe for Velvet Bricks, this crowd does. This became a tradition when I was in college and we still make it on Sunday mornings.

1 spoonful unsweetened chocolate powder
sugar to taste
2 shots of espresso
1 cup of strong coffee
steamed milk

mix it all in a nice thick ceramic cereal bowl, like the French drink theirs. Dust with chocolate powder. Bang, zoom, to the moon, Alice.

For a while in college, our apartment was across the street from a Planned Parenthood. On Saturday mornings when we were all fiercely hung over, the protesters would be out there with bullhorns by about 9:30 in the morning. No sleep for the wicked, so we'd make a batch of velvet bricks, and then we'd get wire hangers and put them on our heads, and take some lawn chairs out onto the front stoop and glare silently but fiercely at the idiots with their signs.

In the process, we discovered that a well-positioned wire hanger actually fixes headaches. If you bend it just a little, with the hook sticking out in front like a uraeus, (an uraeus?) it'll hit both temples and that strip across the base of your skull. Three nice pressure points. So the gods rewarded us for harassing the protesters.
