Okay, so at work a female co-worker asked me if I liked coconut and I told her I did not. She told me most guys don't and I didn't believe her. So we started asking everyone and it turns out not a single guy at work liked coconut and most of the women did.

So now I'm taking this question global and we're going to get to the bottom of this thing right now.

Do you like coconut? Please take the poll, thanks!

In Puerto Rico and most of the Caribbean Islands ( Latin and West Indian ) we all love coconut and use coconut in many types of foods.

I guess I'm one of the few that don't like coconut. Should I feel bad about that?

No, you should be proud of who you are! :D

I do like eating coconut, although I just found out from my Doctor that coconut oil isn't as that good for you like they've been saying.

I think coconut is actually good for you, but there has been a rise in anti-coconut info I think because of the high fat content. Personally, I think some fats are healthy and we aren't getting as much as we should. But, if I were you, I'd get another opinion. Doctors tend to read one literature and simply repeat--sort of like the news.

As an ingredient? Or as a flavoring? Ingredient I'm cool with, flavoring . . . Blech!

I love coconut. Often use a shampoo scented with it. I have cooked with the oil, but I mostly like using coconut milk/cream in various curries and soups (it's so good with lime). And I'm partial to Malibu.

I think the most important thing we've learned from this entire thread is absolutely nothing.

But the poll still shows that the theory, at least, is still standing. Hmmmmm

Coconuts rock.
They kept the castaways of Gilligan’s island from starvation for years!

Some Harvard professor called coconut oil "pure poison" and her nonsensical hyperbole made national news.

I enjoy a lovely set of coconuts! Oh, I guess that’s not what this threads about? Never mind.

I like coconut and coconut oil. The oil mixed with a little lemon juice makes a gret deep conditioner.

My dad loved coconut. He used to buy whole ones about once a month. He'd break them with a hammer and we'd eat them straight out of the shell.

My female friend has an extreme coconut aversion. She can't even stand the smell!

All of the above and especially real coconut water straight from the coconut, it's way better than the coconut water from here. I was speaking with a cashier from Dominican Republic, who recently arrived to this country and we were conversing on the taste and nutritional values of fresh coconuts compared to the rest

So I’m a guy. I’m ambivalent about coconut. At least as far as food is concerned. In some holiday cookies it’s an essential ingredient. I love coconut milk for cooking southeast Asian dishes. But the flesh itself usually doesn’t lend much to the flavors.

The scent of coconut suntan oil though takes me back to the pool and being a teenage boy in awe of women.

I love coconuts! I use coconut oil in my coffee, as a moisturizer, lubricant when needed. :) Coconuts are great.

I think this thread needs a bump now that there is new blood around Lit. Let’s science the shit out of this poll!
