Having ignored the entire point at least Ridley did a decent enough film.
"I really like the dystopian background of this book, let's just use that for the film instead of the ground down by his job and keeping up with the Joneses main character whose life encapsulates all that is bad about out of control consumerism destroying the planet and the inference that unweildy global multi-national giants will take any avenue for profit even to the extent of attempting to recreate mechanically some few of those wonders that it has destroyed embodied by 'electric sheep'."

Well compared to the other two botch jobs?
The antithetical ending post-on in Minority Report and the horror that was Total Recall.
Compared to that, Ridley was practically spot on.
Hollywood's not cynical enough to do pure Dick yet.
