Oh, I don't think so. I think I'm pretty straightforward and balanced. This thread was fine as long as it was in the game's "stroke me" mode. When it started into passing out pitchforks and looking around for a victim, it needed a little shaking up. All quite childish.


I think perhaps you're not the one who went back to look at the source of this and is being balanced in response. But that's not all that surprising.

Have anything to discuss on actual Lit. author topics?

Hey, it had been going on for days here--and had gone on for days at the foundation--without me posting a thing. As I already said, I just posted on this thread when the pitchforks came out pointed at someone who hadn't been any more obnoxious than Cloudy had been in the original dustup. And I only continue to post to this thread because the children here goad me to do so.

People can post to the forum as they wish for whatever reason they have. I choose now and again to point to the running of Internet gaming that is abusive to others and to childish and gangbanging behavior. So sue me.

I haven't told a single poster yammering at me to shut up and go away--and I certainly haven't used the abusive language on anyone that is used on me here. Chomp on that for a bit.

I actually do write stories for Lit. and am quite happy to discuss reading/writing issues here when they are posed here, so I feel comfortable posting to the AH section.

If they want a group hug, let them do it. You have posted your point, they saw it. The person was totally capable of defending himself, and even then, you came out to defend him, fine, I can respect that. But to continue with the 'childish' comments?

About them 'goading' you, I honestly thought you were above posting just because they 'goaded' you.

I know you haven't used abusive language. So, well, just because I had this impression that you don't get into childish squabbles, I thought you were mainly having 'fun' by poking at them and seeing them explode. Which isn't what I thought you'd do. Yes, I know I don't really know you well enough, but, well... *shrug*

I don't know the in's or out's of the reason for you leaving, but coming on today and finding out that you had gone was one of the saddest thing.

Even though we haven't interacted/spoken much together in the past few months, I have to say that your absence is heavily felt.

I'll never forget that you were the one who gave me the strength and confidence to write my first story. You believed in me even when I didn't myself.


You're truly and will be sorely missed until your return.

Well, I seem to continue to have the hope that at some point people will see how petty and silly and childish they are being and just turn to something more creative and constructive. I'll certainly be doing that in a minute or two--in the meantime I'll just establish that I'm not scared or cowed by the dynamic being demonstrated here.

Gawd, Cloudy hasn't died--and where she's at is by her choice and no one was particularly abusive to her in the process--certainly not as abusive as she can be to others. She's just savoring the "stroke me" phase of this standard Internet game. Give her your testimonials and then welcome her back when she reappears. It's all a normal pattern of Internetting. It's just best to keep it all about her and to avoid the nastier, pitchforking phase of that particular game.
