Climate continues to change.

The problem is even if we change everyting

and the rest of the world doesn't it will make no difference. We will have racked up trillions more in debit for NOTHNG!

Wikipedia says that SF6 leaks are probably responsible for 0.2% of climate change.

It's the most amazing thing I've ever seen.

"Journalists" are engaged in a brazen, outright, organized effort to disseminate climate propaganda and bend the news.

You don't believe it? Have a look at this:

And you thought "journalism" was supposed to be non-partisan, honest and objective.

90% of the world's population just experienced the hottest summer on record
UPI|10 hours ago
According to NOAA, nine of the 10 highest June-through-August global land and ocean surface temperatures have occurred since 2009. It was the second-hottest summer at a global level, according ...

So basically, China had a heat wave?

I guess I live in the other 10%. This summer was fairly mild. There was this one summer, though, couple or three years ago, going outdoors was like walking into a furnace. They're saying we're in for it this winter though!

Does anyone else suspect both side are making it up as they go along?

I mean seriously.

The data does not PROVE either viewpoint.

Maybe we caused it. Maybe we didn't.

Maybe we can fix it. Maybe we can't.

Me? I think no to both questions but the fact that both sides are SO convinced should suggest there's some cooking of books somewhere.

My money is on the snake oil salesman, Mr. Gore, but opinions may vary.

[Andrew] BOLT: WE MUST DOUBT DISTURBED TEEN’S CLIMATE DOGMA

I have never seen a girl so young and with so many mental disorders treated by so many adults as a guru

What is so fascinating about this Thunberg cult is not just that she’s believed so fervently even though she’s wrong.

But Thunberg has something very rare as well — a sense of absolute certainty. She shows not the slightest doubt and forgives not the slightest compromise. This allows followers who are tormented with doubt and burden of freedom to relax into her totalitarian certainty.

And in Thunberg’s case, that certainty comes from what normally would be seen as a disability.

If we can believe a book by her mother, opera soprano and Eurovision contestant Malena Ernman, Thunberg went two months without eating when she was 11.

She suffered years of depression and anxiety attacks and was finally diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, high-functioning autism, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Her intense fear of the climate is not surprising from someone with disorders which intensify fears.

Last week I harvested about 85 kilograms of grapes from my grandfather's wine tree (she's older than me). It's up from the average of 27kg she produced between 1998-2012. No, the amount has little or nothing to do with climate, I was forced to reorganize her when we changed the rooftop (she's around the veranda), and after that severe cut down she's already more than doubled in mass against what was there before, and there's still growth potential in the current configuration.

That it's only fourth time on record I harvested that particular grapes before 20th September (and the third was last year), probably does.

By the way, she's at 56°52'N.

Still waiting for you to explain why that graph changed. https://forum.literotica.com/showpost.php?p=90709681&postcount=1074

Year after year, heat records keep getting broken. As we head into fall, we can look back and see that the summer of 2019, according to scientists at NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information, has just tied with the summer of 2016 for the hottest meteorological summer on record in the Northern Hemisphere.

This summer’s heat marks the fifth record-breaking summer in a row, as all five of the hottest summers ever recorded have occurred since 2014.

Much of the warming is due to the fact that global ocean temperatures were the highest ever recorded for the month of August. But landmasses are hotter too. Africa had its warmest June through August since records began, and South America and Europe also had June through August temperatures that ranked among the three-warmest on record. While all of these regions saw warming, there weren’t any areas in either the land or the ocean where record-cold August temperatures were measured.

But over this same time period, Arctic sea ice shrunk to its second smallest extent since satellite records began, and the northern and western Pacific Ocean, the Bering Sea, northern and southern parts of North America, the Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean as well as parts of Africa and central Asia all saw record warm August temperatures.

I wonder what could cause such a tremendous change? The only thing in the area that even COULD do that is the sun and that sucker is WAY too far away to make a difference here. It HAS to be us humans.

NPR Climate Propaganda Bullshit:

The report is prima facie evidence of highly biased, partisan reporting along with more inaccurate assertions and outright lies from Rebecca Hersher and NPR.

When did "reliable measurements" of ocean surface temperatures begin?

We know that the majority of ocean surface temperatures were compiled using canvas bags and vessel engine cooling water intakes all the way until the late '70s.

We also know that there was extremely limited coverage of the oceans until the deployment of satellites and Argos buoys which only occurred recently.

Why did Hersher fail to mention these facts? Why is NPR continuously lying about climate?

I'd be extremely grateful if you'd let me know when you hear or read a mainstream media news report on this retraction.

I'm certain the NY Times or the WaPo or Bloomberg or NPR or AP's Seth Borenstein will be the first to inform the public.

TIA

"Nature" Paper On Ocean Warming Retracted

by Retraction Watch

"...'Nature' is retracting a 2018 paper which found that the oceans are warming much faster than predicted by previous models of climate change.

The article, "Quantification of ocean heat uptake from changes in atmospheric O2 and CO2 composition,” appeared at last October but quickly drew the attention of an influential critic who said the analysis was flawed.

The authors agreed, and within three weeks the paper received the following update:

"We would like to alert readers that the authors have informed us of errors in the paper. An implication of the errors is that the uncertainties in ocean heat content are substantially underestimated. We are working with the authors to establish the quantitative impact of the errors on the published results, at which point in time we will provide a further update."
At the time, Ralph Keeling, of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, Calif., and a co-author of the article, was gracious about the error. The San Diego Tribune quoted the researcher saying:

"When we were confronted with his insight it became immediately clear there was an issue there. We’re grateful to have it be pointed out quickly so that we could correct it quickly."
Now, nearly more than 10 months later, Nature is pulling the plug on the article..."

"...the Resplandy et al. paper has today been retracted, at Nature’s request. This article at Retraction Watch covers the story. The Retraction Notice by the authors at Nature reads:

Shortly after publication, arising from comments from Nicholas Lewis, we realized that our reported uncertainties were underestimated owing to our treatment of certain systematic errors as random errors. In addition, we became aware of several smaller issues in our analysis of uncertainty. Although correcting these issues did not substantially change the central estimate of ocean warming, it led to a roughly fourfold increase in uncertainties, significantly weakening implications for an upward revision of ocean warming and climate sensitivity. Because of these weaker implications, the Nature editors asked for a Retraction, which we accept. Despite the revised uncertainties, our method remains valid and provides an estimate of ocean warming that is independent of the ocean data underpinning other approaches. The revised paper, with corrected uncertainties, will be submitted to another journal. The Retraction will contain a link to the new publication, if and when it is published.
I believe that this saga, as well as showing how ineffective journal peer review tends to be in spotting problematic issues in papers, illustrates the need for a much closer involvement of statisticians in climate science research..."
