"I'll hold you to it." He pressed one more kiss to her lips before he finally headed out toward the keep.

Fiona soon dressed in her armor after Sam had left, wondering what she would tell her father. He didn't want her involved in this fight but these people would soon be hernfsmily. She had to do it. As she walked towards his house with a pack slung over her shoulder, she knew that their parting might be difficult.

When Fiona arrived, Owen was sitting outside with Kesh at his side, making some small repairs to his saddle. He glanced up hearing Fiona approach, and the sight of her armor and pack made him frown. "... I take it you heard what happened."

"I did. And I have to go." Fiona said softly, placing her pack on the ground next to the gate. "Sam need me to go back to Norway and Sweden to protect his family while he mounts a fight in Normandy."

"... I suppose that's not so bad," Owen sighed and rose to wrap her in his arms. "... How are things with you two...?"

"Better." She said softly as she pressed her cheek against his chest as he held her tightly. "I would pay a large sum to hear a simply 'I love you' freely from him, though. He's trying, but it happens too slowly for me sometimes."

"Sam is the sort who doesn't repeat himself, it seems," Owen chuckled weakly. "I know men like him... If it helps, you should know that his love still stands until he says otherwise, which he won't do."

"Well, if things keep going well, I'll need you to walk me down the aisle in the winter time." Fiona said softly, looking up at her father with a small smile on her face. "If I can keep you and Sam alive and healthy until then."

"You worry about Sam for now. Kesh will keep me going. Always has since we met." Owen kissed her cheek. "But before you go... I haven't decided yet, but... I've been asked to pair up with that new dragon, Orion. Not to fight, but to help run messages across the isles especially to Ireland and the islands."

"He's a stubborn one. Maybe you'll do him some good." Fiona said softly as she looked at her father, not really saying that he shouldn't be flying if he didn't want to be a part of the war. "You just need to keep yourself safe for me. I've only just had you come back into my life and I don't want you to go away any time soon."

"I don't intend to be drawing my sword anytime soon, little kit. The most danger I intend to face is a storm at worst. I'm going to spend some time talking to Orion before I make any decisions."

"I know I promised to take you to see Ma and Grandpa when you came home. Maybe we can go there now before I have to leave with Invah." Fiona said softly. "I'm sure Kesh won't mind carrying the both of us and my bags."

"Actually, my love... I think I'll go see them on my own this first time," Owen murmured softly. "... I have some things to work out alone. But I know where they are."

"Ma's waited for you to come back for a long time." Fiona said as he admitted it was something he wanted to do alone. "And I know grandpa has been waiting for you to finally get your act together."

She gave him a small little smile as she said that, knowing her grandfather would love nothing more than to welcome his son back home if he were still around to do so. It reminded her that she had something for him and she turned to her bags, pulling out the wooden box that housed her grandfather's pocket watch the one that Sam had retrieved for her when they had first gotten together.

"I think that this belongs to you, being the last Blackstone male around." Fiona said handing him the box.

When Owen saw the watch, his ears folded back slightly in surprise and a little heartbreak. "... I can't believe you have it... I thought Dad sold it..." He took it out and gingerly turned it over in his hands. But then he pressed it back toward Fiona. "I don't deserve this."

"Sam gave it to me as a gift and I'm giving it to you." Fiona said, pushing it back into her father's hands. "He did love you, Da. He loved you more than you ever knew. He just wanted you to be happy no matter what. He would want you to have this."

Owen could only hug Fiona tightly once more, unable to express his gratitude any other way. Between the return of a family heirloom and his daughter going off to war as far as he saw it, he was a bit lost.

"I won't do anything that puts me in danger if I can help it." Fiona said softly as her Da held her tightly. "You have a wedding to help pay for anyway."

She gave him a grin at that, chuckling as she pulled away and looked him in the eye. "Invah will protect me. I trust her with my life."

"I'm going to worry about you anyway." Owen sighed. "As much as I want to encourage you to be safe... I also want you to know when to take risks, for yourself and for the people who need you. You'll do well."

"I'll be safe." Fiona said softly as she reached up to touch his cheek. "Tell Ma and Grandpa hello for me."

"I love you, sweetheart," he murmured, hugging her one last time before he let her go. "Go on and save the world, little kit."

"I don't know about saving the world but I can definitely help stop this war." Fiona said as she turned to father up her satchel, turning to give her father one last smile before she turned to continue on her way to find Invah.

Owen watched her until he couldn't see her anymore. When she returned to Inverness, Invah was already waiting for her and Sam was there checking her tack and packing a few things in the saddlebags.

Fiona movedto add her own pack to the saddle bag, glancing over at Sam as he seemed to be adding things to her bags of his own accord. "What are you sending me off with, Sam?"

"Chessie got some extra supplies around for you," Sam murmured. "An' there's a letter fer my aunt." He looked to Fiona. "Yer essentially a freelancer, but no' a mercenary, by military standards. Y'can go where you please and do what you think is best... But all I ask is tha' you take council with Kayla. If she believes you'd be better in Sweden 'r Denmark 'r even Finland, I'd take it into consideration. No doubt she'll insist she can take care o' herself, but she won't give up extra help defendin' her children unless she's absolutely certain they're safe."
