If you are talking about a 1800s style civil war, that won’t be happening. If you are talking about flashes of violence in different places… well we can hope cooler heads will prevail…but truth is a commodity that is running very low, especially on the MAGA side of things.

We shall see if the Convict in Chief can tone down rhetoric this week. Signs are pointing to he might but he’s not in front of the crowd yet. He loves a good crowd.

The unquaxxed are standing by and watching the terminal decline of many millions of people. Imported cannon fodder could do some damage, enough that Pubs can be glad they have guns, but mostly I expect they will be used for manual labor, since so many quaxxed will be permanently disabled. The dropping global fertility rate and America becoming less attractive will limit the supply of imported labor. But the nation will eventually split apart. Without fossil fuels, transportation and communication will be too slow to govern a nation of this size and geography. And then there will be wars between new nations, like the frequent flareups between European nations.

I am glad the shooter was rushed with his shot. While I will celebrate the natural death of certain people in the world, murder is also unconstitutional and I always side with the Constitution.

Because the two sides are not in complete geographic separation from each other, I think you would see pockets of violence. I think where one side is greatly outnumbered by the other you would see massacres so that certain areas would start to become geographically separated.

As far as weapons. I have them. My gun fearing friends ask why and I tell the truth. I am the disappearing center. I may need to defend myself from both sides someday.

I think the culture issues that seem to separate the two sides are not that divisive. It seems to get amplified by the echo chamber of social media. Take the current political candidates out of the equation. What is left? What is the biggest divisive issue once it is not the candidates? Immigration? LGBTQ rights? Abortion? Are the majority of people really that far apart on these issues? Or do we only hear the noise from the extremes?

Slavery is as old as civilization, but it requires specific circumstances. The corporate owners of cash crop megafarms may try it for a while until their farms fail and are replaced with small subsistence farms.

The US still has some slavery now, but hidden in prisons so people can pretend we don't have slavery.

The majority of people have a sensible point of view on the issues you mentioned but the electoral process is controlled so that a very small right wing minority dictates public policy.

As an example, I give you Texas, one of the most extreme right wing states in the country. However, consider this. One third of the people eligible to vote are not registered to vote. Of the remaining two thirds who are registered only half actually vote. So that's another third who do not vote.

Consequently a candidate only has to win a majority of that third, so that's a little more than a sixth. That means a candidate with the support of 20% of the eligible voters wins. The other 80% were too lazy to register and vote or thought it was pointless.

Texas is thoroughly gerry mandered so that the minority white population controls most of the districts. Combine that with voter suppression on a massive scale and that's what you get. I live in a district where it doesn't matter if I vote at all.
