circumcision...ugh

It's her decision as a parent, but I hope when her son asks her why she did it, she doesn't say it was because it looked gross.

WTF? She has the obligation to tell her son the truth. She has the obligation to tell him exactly what she wrote here. He has the right to know the truth. Or is this too radical?

Relax, I should have put a  after that comment.

I really think that this is a legitimate preference for an individual male to have. But each male should be able to decide for himself what his preference will be. Of course, this means that you would have to have been circed voluntarily later in life, but it would be a couple of days of pain and a week of discomfort.

Were the uncut guys rushing to get circ'ed, or were they also happy with what they had?

I had a few friends admit they wish they had been cut. But nobody wants to go out on their 15th birthday and have their dork snipped.

I say the window of opportunity is brief. Do it right away or don't get it done. Unfortunately, that leaves the decision up to the parents.

Hey, it's not outside the bounds of possibility. There's a guy at work right now with a frozen bag of peas on his lap because of a vasectomy, something he voluntarily signed up for.

Lets take a poll.......how many men, of all the millions that have been circumsized since they began doing it, have had mental problems? How many that have not been circumsized have had mental problems?

I know we'll never know the truth but I say if dad is that way and it's in line with your relgious beliefs or some other belief, then have it done.

of all the spewing rhetoric in this thread, this one takes the absolute cake.

Gman, please please please tell me you aren't THIS much of an idiot. Tell me you got a bit carried away.

I'm circumcised.
I don't remember having it done. I don't have any long term psychological effects from it. In fact, it rarely crosses my mind at all.

However, when I was growing up and involved in sports I saw a lot of uncut wangs in the locker room and I gotta tell you, everytime I did I mentally thanked my mom for having me circumcised.

I'm just being honest.

Child abuse, not much different than female circumcision practiced in other countries.

Thanks for the cake.

that's twisted.

Let's make sure we send the Children's Aid Society over to the Synagogue this Saturday. Oh, and bring a truck.

I hear Micheal Jackson has a new "Cosmetic Surgery for Newborns" program set up now too.

People who say male circumcision is like female "circumcision" (which is misnomer anyway), basically blow all credibility. If they are just going to make up wild and crazy arguments like that, they'll say almost anything.

I can understand people who disagree with it. What seems obsessive and psychologically disordered is the grossly exaggerated feelings and the massive overemphasis on their viewpoint. There is something warped that they make so much out of so little.

i have no problem telling my son i think an uncircumsized penis is unattractive any more than i'd have a problem with him telling me he thought something was unattractive

people are allowed to find things aesthetically displeasing

there is a lot of art i wouldn't hang on my walls because i think it's ugly too, same with certain hairstyles, etc...

i'm not going to force my son to date a woman he finds unattractive or unclean

there is nothing wrong with stating that you find something displeasing or unattractive

exactly

and i'm very certain a poll would produce no results that show men who are circumcized suffered any lasting, long-term effects

lol

first we were told boy, then girl, then boy again, which was confirmed by the amnio
This baby is really keeping you on your toes, huh? Probably best that it's a boy, since he's clearly strong-willed and a strong-willed girl would have really been a challenge. ;)

Good luck to you and ignore the naysayers. :rose:

all my mental problems arose from parents that were abusive not being circumsized. Oh yeah and make sure you breast feed that kid too. I'm still looking to get breast fed.

I think the reason some people consider it abuse is because in todays medical world we can wait and use all kinds of drugs to make things peachy keen for the guy. When circumsions first started that wasn't an option so right after birth was best. Of course it was done as a religious thing.

I defy anyone to prove they can remember anything from the day or week after they were born. And no hypnotists either I don't believe in them at all.

my poor son...but he's having it done

and one of the first decisions i have to make as a mom is whether to traumatize him on the first or second day of his birth

My nephew/godson had it done and he's fine.

ETA: You don't have to have it done. It's not really going to be lifechanging one way or the other.

The only people who weren't fine at the bris were me and his other aunt. Go figure.

If you get a lobotomy you wont remember it either.

i'm breast-feeding for 6 months then he's going to learn how to drink from a cup

What if it's a religious belief, as in Judaism?

A lot of cults have bizzare initiation practices and rituals. David Koresh liked to fuck 12 year olds. What was good in the dark ages may not be good in today's world. It's called evolution.
