I believe that male genital circumcision is NOT necessary for health reasons. If a man or boy keeps his body clean and healthy, whether or not he is circumsized makes no difference. It really bothers me that so many people think that circumcision means a boy or man is healthy. If a guy won't keep himself clean, whether or not he is circumsized makes no difference.



This refers to an ongoing dispute between the parents of an eight-year-old boy. The mother wants him circumsized. The father does not. It has landed them both in court. Personally, I am uncircumsized and I keep myself clean. In no way does my uncircumsized status affect my health. I have no desire to change it. EVER.

It´s not barbaric to be circumsised, at all when it is boys who gets circumsised, but it IS barbaric, when it comes to the female version

There was a research some years ago, that said. That uncircumsised men could give women a kind of cancer I can´t remember the name off. And those men who were circumsised(when they of course cleaned them etc.) had a smaller chance (if none ?) of giving the cancer form to the woman.

I am by the way circumsised, and I am not a jew muslim or Christian.

I too was mutilated as a baby, even though I am an atheist. If there's no medical reason for a procedure, then why the fuck are physicians doing it? Doesn't the Hippocratic Oath enjoin them from performing unnecessary surgery?

Doctors say that there is no medical reason to circumsize anyone, male or female. Leave babies whole and healthy. Don't mutilate them due to some mindless ritual.

I just looked at the photo of a baby boy as he was being circumsized. The little child looked helpless as his parents allowed some doctor to mutilate him due to some mindless ritual. I actually felt like crying when I looked at him. Heck, I actually cried. WHY DO PEOPLE DO THESE THINGS ?

More into on the topic. Some of it will shock you. Brace yourselves. It is important that people become aware that Male Genital Mutilation is NOT normal, nor is it necessary. Most people have been made aware of the dangers of Female Genital Mutilation. Few know that most males had no choice in whether or not they are circumsized or not because....it was done to them when they were infants and is thus a violation of their rights. Doctors say that there is no medical reason why any boy should be circumsized. No CHILD should be put through Genital Mutilation. It's barbaric, and simply WRONG ! End it NOW !!!!

For my part, if my wife insisted on circumcising any sons we had, I'd divorce her and abduct my sons. We've talked about it, of course, but since I love her I haven't mentioned the nuclear option.

Bah, whatever! This has nothing to do with religion in the first place. There is only one religion that I know of and that is Judaism, that has a religious reason for circumcision. So don't put this on religion. This is a cultural thing, so blame American culture.

Second, what is this religious people hate themselves and hate life shit? I'm VERY relgious and I love myself, I love my life. I'm not at all miserable and my religion has never made me miserable. Actually, it has gotten me through a lot of tough times.

Whether you want to believe it or not there's a big difference between circumcision of males and female genital mutilation. Removing the foreskin can NOT be compared with carving out a woman's clit! Call me a feminist, but I find that comparisson offensive.

I'm not advocating circumcision, and I haven't decided what I'll do if I have a son. Personally I have seen and heard valid arguments both for and against, but nothing you've said here seems valid to me.

True. My bf is uncircumscised and has always maintained himself super clean. There is so much myth and misinformation about it. I unfortunately got the knife at birth.
I even once saw a small replica statue of Michaelangelo's Statue of David with his penis circumcised!

Again, personal hygiene. Believe it or not, there is also a fetish attraction for uncut guys who haven't washed, or better said, stink.

Both forms are barbaric. Just because 1 of them isnt widely practices in the 'civilised' world doesnt mean it isnt cruel and unneeded.
There are many studies comparing cut and uncut. I dont know the findings but i believe that could be rite. Also uncut men are more likely to get a form of penile cancer, but again im not sure if this is a conculsive finding. I still do not find this good enough reason to cut off foreskins. Women with big breast are far more likely to suffer back problems. Should we therefore make them get breast reductions? Not really a good comparison but you get the idea.

Yes it can be compared. Both are genital mutilation. 1 is more severe than the other but that doesnt stop 1 from comparing them. Its not simply removing the foreskin. It is cutting off 1 of the most sensitive parts of the penis for no good reason other than 1000-2000 years in the past they didnt have the means to keep the thing clean. Its the modern world people and i sure as hell no how to use soap.

for the record, I asked my son's doctor if he could find me clear cut medical reasoning for having that lille piece of skin removed. In the end all he could say was that *it's cleaner*. So I taught my boy how to clean himself properly (at age 2/3) and we have had no problems.

I am so glad so many of you feel this way ! I don't have any kids yet, but someday I think I will. No sharp objects near my boys or girls, thank you very much ! Come any closer and I'll show you how i can be one scrappy mama !
