I've found that to a degree, you can convince the mind that the sensation of pain, is actually the sensation of pleasure.
In a sense, pain isn't real. It's the body's way of telling you something is wrong, but it has no real existence beyond sensation.
I've also found that it's possible to seperate the mind from the body when in deep pain.
To dwell solely in the mind, seperate from the body for short periods of time.
In simpler terms~train the mind how to respond to pain.
Fear plays a part in all this too, and must be converted or bypassed.
