It was a cream filled, chocolate iced donut. The pastry was very dense, and perfectly sweet.

When we were kids my dad used to haul us out to Michigan every summer and there was this grocery store called Fosters - had the best fritters I've ever eaten.

In my first job they made spam or potato fritters in the staff canteen. They were bloody lovely on a cob with ketchup. Needed an antiacid a few hours later though but so worth it.
