So...my son comes home. He's fourteen now and he's about...six feet tall.
He comes home today and says

"There seem to be a lot of girls asking me out now."
"Really?"
"Yes. They're really short."
"How many girls have asked you out?"
"About seven. Two today." (School started just three weeks ago)
"What do you say?"
"I gently decline."
"What do they say?"
"I don't really remember. I don't know their names. Something sort of rude but not really rude."
"Maybe you should get to know them."
"I tried after I gently declined."
"Maybe next time, get to know them before."
"I don't want to be a pedophile!"

Lol...

Sorry, but that's just cute as hell.

And then you said .................?

He's cracking up because he's writing a fiction story that's being passed around school and he's discovering "fan fiction."

"They're writing Yaoi fan fiction about my characters."
"What does that mean?"
"Boy-boy. I may not like it, but I don't want to crush their dreams."

kid has a sense of humor

are you sure he is YOUR KID?

Im sure cant be UD's:)

Seems like a very clever boy.

Oh, he is. He's absolutely brilliant.

I'm so grateful that when he was watching a story on Akins and his Legitimate Rape story he only had to say "What a fuckin' moron!"

Yaaaay!

I tried to clarify what pedophile was. "I know mom, I'm just making a joke."

"You're gonna post this aren't you?"
"Yup."
"Okay, well, tell me if they say something good."
Rofls...

I don't know if you're watching BB14, but there's a 21-year-old kid Ian playing in it... and we're all wondering whether he has Aspergers or OCD. There's a spectrum with ASD...

He knows the order of every person evicted from every BB season. He knows details about the game that nobody else does.

But his social game is terrible. Yet through that, he's managed to make it to the final 5. It's between him and Dan now... but Dan is the master at the social game. Dan's already won BB once, nobody has ever won it twice.

Oddly enough he's learned a lot of social interaction from games. He's gotten the idea that if a character doesn't do what you want, you have to figure out what they want. He just applies that to life when he can. One of his favorite games was Persona. Heavy social interaction.

I have had a tough time watching BB. But I enjoyed Asperger's contestants on Top Model and also The Amazing Race.

That is really great.

You are clearly a super-mom.

Did you ever see the film "House of Cards"?

BB... is such a pressure-cooker emotionally, it's amazing that Ian has made it this far.

If he's up against Dan, Ian wins.

Fortunately he and I have managed to have a really great relationship. I was his conduit to the world for a while and I home schooled him, but now he's out in the world on his own and doing well. He's very high functioning and gaining more social function while retaining a lot of his savant tendencies.

I did see House of Cards. It was a while though, so I don't really remember it very well.

It's hard to predict what's going to have an impact and what people with Asperger's tendencies are completely oblivious toward.

Damn. I saw the title, and I thought that maybe this was another blobfish vanity thread. Tell your son that I said he's funny. Girls like that, or so I've heard.

I'll let him know. He doesn't seem to care whether or not they like him, though he will offer them his umbrella. He's his version of a gentleman, until he's not.

Part of his fiction story is him fending off the attentions of women and robots throughout the universe.

That's why his peers are writing fan fiction, he can only write the fending off so far.

That part, I know.

Obnoxious. Check. Brilliant. Check.

However, there are such moments as when he refused to hug my mother because he "didn't want to catch old."

They're getting fewer now, he's becoming kind according to his rules.

Well, the fending off girls part seems pretty reality-based. As for the robots, only time will tell.

Many brilliant people are obnoxious.

He was born with an overabundance of courage and knowing he was awesome. You wouldn't think this was so much of a problem, but it's hard to improve oneself when one is already the pinnacle of human achievement just by breathing.

Compared to him I'm a bit of a moron in lots of ways, so I suppose we're even.

he's pretty funny :D
smart, and sort of old-fashioned genteel in a modern manner. he's cool!

Given enough time, I'm sure he'd manage. She'd probably be built to play video games with him though. One of the robots has a crush on him because in her words "You're the only one who is interesting and sane at the same time."
